Mystery Science Theatre -3000

Welcome to Cerealia's latest attraction. In an effort to branch into other forms of entertainment, CERES has been slowly patching together films from various worlds to show in its brand new movie theater. So, grab a friend, sit back, and enjoy the newest batch of imported films with a nice bucket of popcorn. As you'll notice from the long line outside, it's the latest rage in the colony, and those tired of the same virtual battles in ViViD are eager to enjoy a little change in scenery.

For those eager to participate, you will find yourself being lead into the lobby by one of the many robotic theater employees. Showing today are five special films, and in the lobbies are various screens advertising them through the movie's digital avatar, Mnemosyne. Allow her to take you on a virtual tour of CERES' finest theatrical offerings.

(( P.S. no actual actors/actresses appear in any of the films. It's all done through advanced CGi-technology and voice acting. ))
"GOOD EVENING, MOVIE-GOERS. I AM MNEMOSYNE, YOUR GUIDE FOR THIS EVENING.

AS YOU CAN SEE, WE HAVE SEVERAL CONCESSIONS FOR YOU. PLEASE PARTAKE IN THE CONCESSIONS, BUT DO NOT MAKE A MESS. THE THEATER ROBOTS HAVE BEEN PROGRAMMED TO TAKE ACTION FOR LITTERING.

THEATER I
[ 00:00 ] MY PETITE EQUESTRIAN EXPERIENCE - RATED A

Advertised as a delightful tale of ponies discovering magic and friendship, this is a must-see! For adults that is. The ponies are killed within the first ten minutes, and then the rest of the run time is filled with a celebratory orgy of Roman-esque proportions. There are no mentions of ponies after the initial scene. They are neither seen nor mourned nor heard from. There are only naked, gyrating bodies as far as the eye can see.

If you manage to sit through the horror long enough, you will notice a certain something in between the moaning. Is that your face on one of the protags? Is it a beloved family member or a friend? You will find that spliced between the scenes are cherished and innocent childish memories now being soiled by passionate cries of pleasure. Enjoy the new memory, your poor, sweet summer child. This will only be visible to the viewer himself/herself.
THEATER II
[ 00:00 ] LARGE ADVENTURER 7 - RATED B

A touching tale of dealing with loss and more loss. This film is about a giant robot and his pet human that gets eradicated in the Third Robotic Genocide, leaving behind just a human carcass. The giant robot clings to the carcass and cries robotic tears until finally he chucks the carcass into a river full of carcasses and decides to go on a deep quest in search of cheese.

But spliced between this tale of woe, viewers will see images of themselves caught in a romantic memory. A first kiss, perhaps? A first love-making session? A first crush? A desired one will also have their face molded on top of all the carcasses as they flow away. This will only be visible to the viewer himself/herself.

THEATER III
[ 00:00 ] THE RETALIATORS: ERA OF RADICALON - RATED C

Agent Dick Angry takes it upon himself to assemble a team of miscreant aliens to invade the hell out of "Planet Earth." The aliens include Zorn, an intelligent toaster; Crisis, a blue-skinned beauty that turns purple when she's aroused; Trish, a rogue miniature ficus with a criminal record; and General Cerealia, a handsome, ripped man who beats evil-doers with his laptop and who looks suspiciously like CERES' programmer, Elias.

This adventurous romp will feature the tragic memories of death interweaving with the destruction of the "Planet Earth." Those who attend will see first-hand the memories of their own worlds slowly being demolished before their eyes and all their loved ones screaming in agony. Then it'll loop itself again and again for the last hour of the film. Enjoy! This will only be visible to the viewer himself/herself.
THEATER IV
[ 00:00 ] DECEASE HARDER II - RATED D

Jack McJack is a cop who is having none of your shit. In this action film, he will ride around on a velociraptor and go around punching evil-doers and detonating them with land mines. If you want all the violence in the world, this is the film for you. Watch as every second is filled with pointless explosions and every curse word in all the known languages in Cerealia.

Of course, spliced between every action scene will be every embarrassing moment of your life being played out for you and only you. Or is it? Start sweating and looking in every direction as you begin to wonder if everyone else can see that time you tripped and fell on your senpai almost kissing him (sacre bleu D= !)
BONUS - THEATER V
[ why:o'clock ] YARD-DOOR PEOPLE OF QUESTIONABLE MORALS - RATED Z

This is a touching film about tenderness and coming together to overcome obstacles and achieve greatness. The Yard-Door people run into danger when an evil megalord starts polluting the air with negative feelings. The Yard-Door people must band together and save the world through kindness. They will go and help their neighbors get across the street, rake up leaves from their lawns, donate canned food to the poor, and collect toys for children who do not have any.

While this film will draw tears from your eyes, you will see happy memories. The happiest that can be mustered. They will be spliced in with the scenes in the movie, occurring side-by-side with all the smiles and fuzzy feelings leaking off the screens. This will only be visible to the viewer himself/herself.

Also, beware! This film contains the angriest of Theater Cleaning Robots. Dropping anything on the floor will result in a bit of a flogging with a wooden paddle and a robot calling you a dirty slut and claiming that you like it. Yes, BDSM robots will not take your bad behavior. You better bend over and start apologizing for being such a filthy, little theater-goer.

... What is she doing, following him? Annoying meddler.

But he does mentally pause when she says that she doesn't know what his 'problem' is.
Is it possible she hadn't seen that?

Some confidence in this situation restored, he continued striding towards the outer exit.

"How very unfortunate that speaking of you would not make you go away." How presumptuous, even considering that he would speak to someone like her about his issue with what he had seen in the theatre. "And that speaking of this 'world' that we are in would not make it go away."

Everyday I would play the games they told us to play which is to supposedly help us fight against these aliens. I took many valuable lessons from the games I played. I learned how to be patient and have self control, especially when playing Mario Party.

The game that really did it for me was Floppy Bird. It was, unfortunately, very easy to beat, and I felt empty when I finished it. There were no lessons to be taught. I didn't feel like I could use the game as a training lesson.

And so, I thought: why are we not training in a dojo? Our time here— is it just being wasted or is this really some way for us to grow powerful to eventually fight the Flamines and restore our land?

I started thinking a lot, and the more I thought of things, the more Floppy Bird haunted me.

[ ??????
a long, drawn out pause. ]

Gintoki, I don't know what to think of this place anymore, but I need more answers.
And the only way to get more answers is to do something brash.

—no!

[ Taking his act for truth, as ever, Pyrrha immediately busies herself trying to console him. She barely knows what bonding looks like, but if he’s saying they had a “moment”, then - the possibility that she hurt his feelings only inspires guilt. It comes through in her tone, apology overtaking the reluctance of moments ago. ]

I would be happy to be your friend, Mercury.

[ Pyrrha, you’re such a loser. ]

[ HIs shoulders are still slumped, but he lifts his face a bit to look at Pyrrha. He's still frowning, though. ]

Seriously?

Of course.

You better not take that back.

[ Kagemitsu wishes he could help. It must be unsettling not to know.

He pats his descendant on the shoulder. ]

It's alright, Soramaru, the people here aren't bad, I'm sure they'll tell you what's important.

[ Either way, he says. None of the options presented to her are especially reassuring. Sousei doesn’t trust their overlords and Pyrrha finds herself agreeing with him. ]

I feel the same way. [ They may yet have a hand they’re not showing, this CERES corporation, but all these lies and half-truths give her a strange, muted sense of hope. If Remnant being destroyed is also a lie... She sighs out, an indicative gesture that’s decidedly rare, before looking back around -

Oh.

Oh.

Sheepishly, she rubs at the back of her neck, before her hands fall abeyant once more. ]

Do you know where we are? [ Because she does not. ]

[personal profile] reuser 2015-03-23 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The mythology of it is completely alien to her, but Naoki explains his world’s end in a way that’s easy enough to follow. There were stories back on Remnant - comic books and TV shows modeled after the concept he’s claimed to live. A wasteland, a barren world, survival overtaking life. It’s chilling, to know such a thing can be true. Her gaze softens, the necessary sharpness of alacrity fading into something far more sympathetic. ]

They may have been looking for something different than you or I would have considered. These “Flamines” - it’s possible they just don’t think like we do.

[ With a self-deprecating quirk to a barely there smile, she shakes her head. ]

I don’t think we’re getting answers any time soon.
masakados: (staring into your eyes)

[personal profile] masakados 2015-03-23 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Naoki nods slowly, because she's not wrong. But at the same time, he's unwilling to believe what CERES has told him and everyone else here. If it were destroyed, then what? He has to wait until someone else fixes his broken world for him? Even if it were the case, he couldn't possibly be content with that.]

I don't think so either.

I don't think we should stop looking for them, but we might have to wait until some kind of opportunity shows up. Until then, we can work on the questions we can answer.

Well, I guess if they're entertaining... [ Maybe he'll look into these games and try them out. In secret, of course. ]

It still sounds pretty weird. They've seem to brought a lot of people here already. [ He's noticed a lot of people when he was in the lobby and they looked really out of place. ] How are we helping them anyway? They warned us that they could have us "replaced" if we refuse to help their cause.

[ Does this have anything to do with his disappearance and reappearance? His eyebrows knit together before he quickly waves his hand. This is definitely something he'd have to talk with if he came across more knowledgeable people, ie. the people responsible. ]

So those tips and remainders you mentioned earlier? Ready to share?
deontology: (XIX.)

[personal profile] deontology 2015-03-23 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[For a moment, that's the only response he gives, as he continues to carry onwards simply. A few more paces carries them to a crossroads, which was presumably Sousei's destination the entire time.

Because now he can point out--]

If you follow this path, it will take you to the Residential District. There, you should be able to arrange some form of living situation.

Honestly, I don't know how we're helping the CEO fight the Flamines... there was a lady on the network the other day— [ She pulls out her own Cerevice and show the network to Gareki, scrolling down to Naruto's post. ]

It was here... she posted before this guy did, but the post disappeared after a couple of hours.

She knew what to do, but she hasn't specified what it is that people need to do yet. She just told me that what we have to do for now is survive in this place.

[ Athena would talk more about LILITH and what the two of them talked about, but the newbie tips are far more important. ]

How old are you, by the way? I think you can be a student and work part-time some place at the same time. I mean, you picked a job, right? Rent is free for the first few months, but later on, we gotta pay up. So saving is very important.

[personal profile] gareki 2015-03-24 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Just survive, huh? Things that pop up on the network don't usually disappear, right?

[ A message on the network that suddenly appeared for a few hours before vanishing sounds pretty fishy, unless this isn't a first-time case. Still, this was interesting info, even if it was a bit vague. ]

I'm fifteen, and I was a student for a while back in my world. [ He ended up doing something different thanks to special circumstances, but that's all in the past now. Funny how this all happened right when Gareki decided on what he wanted to do. ] I haven't picked one yet, though.

[ So the first step of "surviving" is to grab a job so he can permanently secure his living space. ]
psycholawgy: (arrghhh barghhh)

[personal profile] psycholawgy 2015-03-24 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Not unless you delete it... I mean, she could have just done that, but for what reason?

[ Maybe she got caught? No... Something was definitely up. There was no sense of urgency when she spoke with LILITH, so it's got to be for a different reason.

Anyway, it's probably best to not let Gareki dwell on that. He's got other things to think about. ]

Y- You're fifteen?! [ CONSIDER HER ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED. She... SHE JUST YELLED AT A KID. Now she feels so bad. ]

She just yelled at a fifteen year old!

[ Thank you, talking robot necklace, for joining in on the fun. ]

[ Popcorn would definitely be nice. Luckily, as the robot tumbles along with Gintoki, one of its compartments pops open, spilling out cleaned up food. Kagura descends on a half-eaten bucket of popcorn, totally ignoring Gintoki's plight. ]

[ Somehow the tugging is having the opposite effect, she's sinking down into the robot slowly. ]

Eyebrows, I will always remember you... Your smiling face will be the last thing I see.

[ Even though he isn't smiling. Doesn't matter! It's dramatic! In a spray of sparks, she sinks out of sight, her hand eventually slipping out of his. ]

[ she looks at him for a moment, as if she's trying to put all the words together to tell him, because it's not that she wants to keep any secrets from him, but his hold adjusting tells her that while what she saw may have not been seen by him (or not seen anything similar), this place may be better than Zelien, but he did warn her earlier. ]

Just... strange images of people on the screen or in place of the stuff happening in the movie. [ she says it rather lamely; the humiliating and embarrassing stuff was easier to reflect on than morbid things or otherwise. she wonders briefly if there's any real connection. ]

...It's okay, though, I think. The first world I was in, it was poisoned, so maybe it's just remnants of that. It was really bad on the mind there. [ which isn't cool to talk about because she hasn't forgotten Zero going off the deepend. ]

[ Ready for some totally arbitrary rules??? OKAY. ]

You must make a clean hit, and the ball must travel at least two meters. If you hit a SOMA (stupid old movie attendee), [ She manages to find and point out Ginoki in the audience for an example ] the point value is doubled. If you destroy the ball or the bat, it is tripled. Do you understand aru?

[ His smile is a bit slick but Pyrrha is far from the type to judge based on something so superficial. (Maybe she should be, to be honest. RWBY character designs are hardly misleading.)

Pleasantly: ]

Oh, I'm sure I won't.

[ There is definitely wisdom in what he says. Comfortably, Pyrrha leans back. ]

So, uh— What sort of thing do you do for fun around here?

[ Maybe a change of subject is due. It's a question he (probably) can answer, if nothing else. ]

[ You’re one cool customer, Captain. In the few moments of silence, Pyrrha continues to follow dutifully behind. Waddle waddle. ]

Is there an office I should stop by? [ You know, a rental office with some sort of realtor or landlord... There has to be forms to fill out, at the very least.

Life without forms is a weirdly unfathomable concept. ]

... Is it really that surprising?

[ Maybe Gareki should have lied if she thought he was actually older. But he remembers that she had the ability to tell if he was lying or not. It wouldn't have worked out in the end.

But you know what's more surprising? The voice that seemingly came out of nowhere. It was a robotic voice and Gareki couldn't help but quickly look around. Did those janitor robots come to kick him for throwing popcorn all over the place?

Can't be. Why would they care if Athena was going around bullying kids. ]

Where did that voice come from?
