Mystery Science Theatre -3000

Welcome to Cerealia's latest attraction. In an effort to branch into other forms of entertainment, CERES has been slowly patching together films from various worlds to show in its brand new movie theater. So, grab a friend, sit back, and enjoy the newest batch of imported films with a nice bucket of popcorn. As you'll notice from the long line outside, it's the latest rage in the colony, and those tired of the same virtual battles in ViViD are eager to enjoy a little change in scenery.

For those eager to participate, you will find yourself being lead into the lobby by one of the many robotic theater employees. Showing today are five special films, and in the lobbies are various screens advertising them through the movie's digital avatar, Mnemosyne. Allow her to take you on a virtual tour of CERES' finest theatrical offerings.

(( P.S. no actual actors/actresses appear in any of the films. It's all done through advanced CGi-technology and voice acting. ))

THEATER I

[ 0000 ] MY PETITE EQUESTRIAN EXPERIENCE - RATED A

Advertised as a delightful tale of ponies discovering magic and friendship, this is a must-see! For adults that is. The ponies are killed within the first ten minutes, and then the rest of the run time is filled with a celebratory orgy of Roman-esque proportions. There are no mentions of ponies after the initial scene. They are neither seen nor mourned nor heard from. There are only naked, gyrating bodies as far as the eye can see.

If you manage to sit through the horror long enough, you will notice a certain something in between the moaning. Is that your face on one of the protags? Is it a beloved family member or a friend? You will find that spliced between the scenes are cherished and innocent childish memories now being soiled by passionate cries of pleasure. Enjoy the new memory, your poor, sweet summer child. This will only be visible to the viewer himself/herself.

THEATER II

[ 0000 ] LARGE ADVENTURER 7 - RATED B

A touching tale of dealing with loss and more loss. This film is about a giant robot and his pet human that gets eradicated in the Third Robotic Genocide, leaving behind just a human carcass. The giant robot clings to the carcass and cries robotic tears until finally he chucks the carcass into a river full of carcasses and decides to go on a deep quest in search of cheese.

But spliced between this tale of woe, viewers will see images of themselves caught in a romantic memory. A first kiss, perhaps? A first love-making session? A first crush? A desired one will also have their face molded on top of all the carcasses as they flow away. This will only be visible to the viewer himself/herself.

THEATER III

[ 0000 ] THE RETALIATORS: ERA OF RADICALON - RATED C

Agent Dick Angry takes it upon himself to assemble a team of miscreant aliens to invade the hell out of "Planet Earth." The aliens include Zorn, an intelligent toaster; Crisis, a blue-skinned beauty that turns purple when she's aroused; Trish, a rogue miniature ficus with a criminal record; and General Cerealia, a handsome, ripped man who beats evil-doers with his laptop and who looks suspiciously like CERES' programmer, Elias.

This adventurous romp will feature the tragic memories of death interweaving with the destruction of the "Planet Earth." Those who attend will see first-hand the memories of their own worlds slowly being demolished before their eyes and all their loved ones screaming in agony. Then it'll loop itself again and again for the last hour of the film. Enjoy! This will only be visible to the viewer himself/herself.

THEATER IV

[ 0000 ] DECEASE HARDER II - RATED D

Jack McJack is a cop who is having none of your shit. In this action film, he will ride around on a velociraptor and go around punching evil-doers and detonating them with land mines. If you want all the violence in the world, this is the film for you. Watch as every second is filled with pointless explosions and every curse word in all the known languages in Cerealia.

Of course, spliced between every action scene will be every embarrassing moment of your life being played out for you and only you. Or is it? Start sweating and looking in every direction as you begin to wonder if everyone else can see that time you tripped and fell on your senpai almost kissing him (sacre bleu D= !)

BONUS - THEATER V

[ whyo'clock ] YARD-DOOR PEOPLE OF QUESTIONABLE MORALS - RATED Z

This is a touching film about tenderness and coming together to overcome obstacles and achieve greatness. The Yard-Door people run into danger when an evil megalord starts polluting the air with negative feelings. The Yard-Door people must band together and save the world through kindness. They will go and help their neighbors get across the street, rake up leaves from their lawns, donate canned food to the poor, and collect toys for children who do not have any.

While this film will draw tears from your eyes, you will see happy memories. The happiest that can be mustered. They will be spliced in with the scenes in the movie, occurring side-by-side with all the smiles and fuzzy feelings leaking off the screens. This will only be visible to the viewer himself/herself.

Also, beware! This film contains the angriest of Theater Cleaning Robots. Dropping anything on the floor will result in a bit of a flogging with a wooden paddle and a robot calling you a dirty slut and claiming that you like it. Yes, BDSM robots will not take your bad behavior. You better bend over and start apologizing for being such a filthy, little theater-goer.

That is understandable... [He nods towards the broken robot.] I am glad that you are alright. That enemy fought in a- a most dishonorable way. If you ever need help again, I would be glad to prove it!

[His tone is harsh, but even so, he wants to believe what she's saying. If he arrived here a while after Athena, there's a chance for his sister, too...]

[ That's enough to shut her up.

She presses on the elevator and waits until the doors open. Into the elevator she goes! ]

[Ragyo just grins, leaning forward and placing the tip of the paddle on the arm of Ryuko's seat.]

What kind of greeting for your mother is that, Ryuko-chan~? If nothing else, I should discipline you for being so disrespectful.

[She reaches a hand out, running the back of her hand over Senketsu's fabric.]

Sometimes I wonder where I went wrong with you. [Dumping her in the trash as a baby probably didn't help ya out there...]

[ Civilian lifestyle will take some getting used to where the Innovade is concerned. Unfortunately, time keeping is probably going to be one of those thing that will annoy him regardless of whether it's Celestial Being or civilian related.

Cliff's suggestions is met with a rather bemused scrunch of eyebrows. ] In that case, they should have re-calibrated those cleaning bots to be more efficient. This sort of delay is unacceptable. [ Adjusting his glasses, he turns his attention back to the electronic board displaying the seating time. ] I'm aware of those. It seems to be a common advertising strategy. [ Not that he likes them. ]

[ Already running out of patience, all the girl successfully did is makes matter worse. Tieria has never been a pushover and he's not going to start now. If he doesn't want something, no one is going to make him want it unless he decides otherwise. ]

I told you not to interfere. You're not entitled to my gratitude if you chose to ignore my wish.

[ He's done dealing with his lack of social achievement today, so without waiting for her response, he turns around and head for the exit instead. He'll just watch the movie another day. ]

It could have done without the first act. [The Pony-Slaughtering second act was totally alright and the orgy third act was more than alright by opinion of the King of Heroes. He kept his legs crossed and elbows propped in his seat from behind Ragyo.

Gilgamesh and Ragyo seemed to be some of the few ones in the theater who enjoyed it without obstruction. Gilgamesh simply realized the movie answered his demand--for the ponies to die.]

[He follows after her in silence, trying to push down his feelings of despair before Athena can pick up on them. If their world was really gone, what was any of it for? Avoiding the gallows, only to lose everything regardless... His only solace is the girl standing beside him being alive and well.

Once they reach her floor, he steps out ahead of her.]

Which room is yours?

[ She nods as she steps out and leads the way. Her voice isn't as strong and bubbly as it was earlier. ]

Over here.

[ She slides a card on one of the doors and it automatically slides open sideways. ]

This is where Ryuko and I are staying.

[ The flat itself isn't so big, but spacious enough for two or more people to stay in. There's a living room with Japanese interior, but the dining room right across looks pretty Western. The kitchen is down one hall, and down another corridor houses two bedrooms and the bathroom. ]

It's a pretty effective one too, if you ask the marketing folks. [He scratched his chin, thoughtfully.] But, it also means we've got some time. If you're really that bothered by the maintenance bots, you should mention something to management on our way out. There's not much anyone can do about it now.

...why do they lie to us if we are supposed to help them? [ It doesn't make much sense to him. Lying to your troops or to the people you are supposed to ally yourself with. Draw his own...conclusions he says. Kousetsu's frown only deepens, if at all possible. His eyes will trail around the area before landing back on Sousei. He'll close his eyes and nod. ]

Having some hope for the future knowing that it might all just end in sorrow... [ He's not sure what to think, between all the disorienting sights and sounds around them. All of this foreign technology beyond him and without the sage here to help guide them he's not sure where to go. ]

...I will pray for them. [ For everyone back home he means. ]

[ Who the hell indeed! Kousetsu's eyes widen a little at that. His expression manages to actually turn into a smile?! It's short lived but he does smile a little. Good job Tenka you got serious sword bro to show some emotion, be proud. ]

...I will do whatever I can to help. [ As he says that in the most serious and determined tone of voice. If it's not fighting he's all for it. ]

LOBBY - NINJAS
[ there's a lot about cerealia that is foreign and strange and obviously not what aigis's used to, but for her to be completely out-of-place with the concept of fancy technology would be a little weird, given she's fancy technology herself. still, she finds herself drifting towards the place that's most like home... that is, the movie theatre.

don't mind the girl in the school uniform approaching you in the lobby, random citizen. do mind, however, how her eyes are a little crystalline and she seems almost... doll-like. but that's not important, right? ]

Excuse me. Do you know where the movies starring ninjas are located?

[ she needs to know about the mysterious cerealia ninjas. ]

LOBBY - SELECTION
[ okay, so cerealia apparently has terrible taste in movies and there are no movies about ninjas. will she ever find out if the ninjas were eliminated through a cerealian ice age, or technological expansion? oh, well. perhaps she will have to settle for their tales of velociraptors and... whatever it is they're showing.

sorry if you wanted to buy a ticket, however. the girl at the booths is currently to busy mulling over something besides selecting a particular movie, because-- ]

What do the ratings correspond to? Quality...? Material...? [ ... ] Yard-door People of Questionable Morals must truly be questionable to be rated "Z". Or perhaps... it puts people to sleep? "Rated Zzz" might be more appropriate.

[ she glances at you, then, somewhat expectantly. was that humorous? ]

THEATRE II
[ looming outside the recently finished LARGE ADVENTURER 7, said doll-like girl looks deeply contemplative about the affairs of life, love, and loss, alongside the images she saw cut in. losing a loved one is also hard but... third robotic genocide...? really different from the movies she's used to.

the floor sure is interesting. ]

Is cheese a way to cope with loss? Or was it perhaps... A "metaphor". I'm afraid I don't understand... [ maybe she lost the message during her confusion at being part of the movie itself. ah. how frustrating.

a glance up, and if you meet her eyes... well, you'll have her approaching you, whether you came out of the theatre or not. ] May I ask you a question?

that really explains a hell of a lot more than it should, and it's one of those things that unsettles him a lot. it's enough to take the wind out of his sails a bit—some of that intensity deflates, though his expression doesn't immediately change.

it's like that, huh? she's another person who has the experience of other places and times, of meeting people she was never really meant to meet at all. and in that place—whatever place that is—they were acquainted. not only were they acquainted, but she knew kondou too, and that makes it a little worse. it does send a tightness into his chest, because he misses kondou more than anything in the world. not getting to see kondou for a year is killer enough to send him a bit off-kilter.]

Ahh, I see. So it's just like that, is it? [his expression changes along with his tone; though he's clearly trying to keep things light, there's a bitter undertone to it all. it's not yuuki's fault. souji knows it's not her fault that some other "him" (because they're not the same, even if they're the same, the way he sees it) got to be taken from kyoto and still be with kondou.

how is that fair? it's not fair at all.]

I guess there'll be a time when I decide to get a haircut, then. It's not something that's happened that I can remember. [he states it somewhat idly. obviously, that's true—even if there's no way to be sure what the circumstances are that would lead to that. he really likes his hair this way, and especially without kondou around, it's a nice homage to his favorite person.

there's a lot he wants to know, honestly. he's curious about yuuki now more than he had been before. who was she? how well did she know him? how well did he know her? they're the sorts of things he normally would have a single fuck to give about, but her words and tone have turned that around in a pretty drastic way. but souji isn't sure how to ask those things directly, especially when he still hasn't entirely collected his thoughts about it.

so for now, he remains as he is, with that idle acknowledgement of the circumstances being all he says. for a moment, his eyes are fixated on her, curious to see how she responds. curious to know a lot that normally would have went ignored. but his gaze doesn't remain that way very solidly—he's a little distracted by his conflicting feelings over everything else he's just been told.]

[ Being touched like that gives Senketsu the chills, Ryuko however simply slaps her hand away. ]

Like hell I'll ever acknowledge you as a parent!! Start with where you went wrong with yourself before ya wonder about anything else!

[the robot's head spins for a moment, beeping and processing their responses] SO YOU WANT TO DO THIS THE HARD WAY? I FIGURED AS MUCH. BOTH OF YOU, BEND OVER.

[Hungary's also making fists with her hands. how dare this robot speak to them like this, and right in the middle of a good movie] We will do no such thing! You are ruining this young man's movie experience!

[But Hide does worry. He always had. He worried each time he caught a classmate picking on Kaneki. He worried after Kaneki's mother pasted away and his friend seemed to be sad all the time. He'd even worried about Kaneki after his date, after the accident, when he'd known something was wrong but didn't know what.

Hide has spent a good portion of his life worrying about Kaneki, but it hadn't done any good the one time it might have actually helped the most. If only he'd stuck around the cafe after Rize had shown up. Maybe he would have picked up on her intentions, saw her for what she was. Maybe not as a ghoul, but a predator. Maybe she would have given him the same feeling he used to get from Nishio-san. That poisonous and hateful feeling.]

I agree that it's in poor taste. But if it's not a joke or a hazing, why would they do that? Purposely show us things like that?

[And he's not just talking about the child movie turned porno they'd walked out of. Some of the other films had been just as bad. Worse even. Theater three had shown him the destruction of the 20th Ward among...other things. But what purpose does it serve to show them these things? Is it a test? A show of malice? He just doesn't have enough information to go off of.

Hide tries not to think too much about the state of their world. He'd seen first hand some of the damage that had been wrought on it. But it's not like there's anything he can do to fix it at the moment. He needs more information. But until then he's happy to focus on the positive aspects of this experience. Like having Kaneki back.

He sees his friend's guilt and feels a little regret for his choice of words. It hadn't been his intention to guilt Kaneki. Hide knows he has his reasons for the course of action he took. He just wishes that he knew what those reasons were exactly.]

Kaneki. You will always be my friend.

[His tone is one of complete seriousness to match the expression on his face. He knows this has been weighting Kaneki down for such a long time. The secret that he just can't seem to put into words. Hide could take the choice from him. Tell him that he's known all along, or at least, for a long time now. And even if he hadn't, he would have put two and two together once the CCG had began investing Kaneki and Kanou's disappearances. He doesn't blame Kaneki for keeping it a secret, but he desperately wishes there was a way he could convey his acceptance without making Kaneki feel like a fool for trying to hide it for so long. There's a reason Hide has kept this knowledge to himself for so long; because he wants it to be Kaneki's choice.]

I don't care how different you are now. All the important things are still the same.

[Riku shrugs – he's neither confirm nor deny having combat experience, or how much he has for that matter.

A hint of a smile sneaks on his face, it's been a while since he's snarked with anyone.]

[Riku dismisses his weapon before turning to the girl, acknowledging her with a nod.]

[...However that's possible. Considering the blindfold and all.]

[ Yuuki knows she's knows way too much and way too little about Souji at the same time. It was almost more difficult knowing the inside yet having no idea how the outside became what it was.

But, if there was one thing she learned well through experience was Souji's air of sadness. She came to be in the company of it a lot, and so even with his attempt to keep it simple and not betray herself, she glances up at him as he speaks.

She's not sure if Souji's sadness in relation to Kondou is different from his other expressions of it, but she only knows of it in relation to Kondou, anyway. It's only after Souji goes quiet that Yuuki makes the connection, though, and she bites down on her lip somewhat guiltily for bringing Kondou up. He accepted it really easily, believed her even, so... maybe he's been other places, too? Or if not, here well long enough. And from his reaction, she'd at least find it safe to assume Kondou is not here with Souji.

Ahh, how does one... fix this?

But, whatever, she's going to try however she can because if one thing she's good at is focusing on other people's problems. Suddenly it just doesn't seem to matter as much to her that he doesn't remember, because his disposition is more important. She can lament on her own time, but for now, she doesn't want to keep adding to his misery, if she can help it. ]

Uhm, well,I have never seen Okita-san with it before, but I think I prefer it like this. I mean, you don't look that much different, so it's not as if I disliked the other way, but you stand out more and it means something, right?! And it's cu—

[ she chokes on the word, because no no wrong word, back up back up...!!! ]

—T, cuT... [ she pronounces the t strongly, and repeats the word (and definitely not because she started with a different sound all together or anything)... this...

Ah, where does she take this conversation now?! ] ....it really suits your face!

[ . . . ]

[ ...

okay, that was pretty lame and she fidgets for a second or two, scraping her heel on the floor. She mumbles her next set of words mostly to herself but definitely not impossible to catch them: ]

Can we just pretend I didn't say any of that...

[ No, grow up, Yuuki, just deal with it?! ]

She wrinkles her nose as she reprimands herself before trying again, offering a sheepish sort of smile. ]

Uhm, so what I meant was just... it looks good on you like that, so it isn't a problem you have no knowledge of any other style.

[ ...HEH???

Of course, the significance is very important but she's trying not to bring kondou up again. ~~considering she wears her hair styled to her brother's tastes she sort of can really related to hairstyles having a lot of meaning even if only to the person themselves and no one else...!~~ ]

[Ragyo just grinned and made a tsk sound as she shifted to sit on the back of the seat in front of Ryuko, making a chair out of anyone who happened to be unlucky enough to have that seat.]

Wrong with me? [She just chuckles a bit, running the paddle suggestively up the side of her thigh.]

There's nothing wrong with me, not after giving myself over to the Original Life Fiber, my dear Ryuko-chan~

[She crosses her legs, the toe of her shoe sliding under the hem of Senketsu's skirt.]

But, I suppose I cannot fault you for being ignorant of the bliss that comes from that... after all, you've been stuck in some off-brand knock off for so long...
