His world is actually similar to most world's in the sense that there are multiple cultures/societies/religions and as such, most weapons have historical and geographical origins. Darin's own dao isn't used in his country, it's used primarily in a country where travel and trade are banned, which is why he doesn't know a lot about it. It's associated with a society that worships archfiends, BUT I DIGRESS.
He does specialize mostly in European-style wares and gear, but he's studied and is privy to all types of weapons and cultures since the capital is a hub city. He's seen all types of weapons and armor and has made some for special orders so he's well-versed for sure.
