Takeru really took Edgeworth by surprise when he said he wanted to be strong and learn from, of all people, a lawyer who just had the misfortune of getting tossed into one world after another and so had to learn to fight. But despite that, Edgeworth is slowly warming up to Takeru, this earnest and polite kid who almost always wears a smile and takes everything that happens here in stride. Plus, the boy likes dogs. Edgeworth is always down for being friends with more dog people.
Mabel...well, she's the same Mabel for the most part from the last time she was here and set him up on a blind date. While sometimes she's very random, forward and...uhhh how does he deal with a hyper cheerful kid like this, he has to admit that she's a bright ray of sunshine even in the midst of Cerealia's worst and would like to get to know her better. She's always willing to lend a hand, and he tends to get concerned about her well-being in the colony especially now that Dipper's gone.
Honey-slash-Greta Santiago strikes Edgeworth as the optimistic type who doesn't dwell too much on "this place is weird ahhhh" and moves straight to "OKAY THIS PLACE IS WEIRD let's move on". He doesn't know her all that well yet but would like to, at least she's respectful enough to listen to him and acknowledge his personal space and introduce herself properly. All in all, a good first impression.
Steven AH YES CRAVAT BRO...always so fancy and dignified and caring toward his many pokeymans. He and Edgeworth share so many things in common and for Edgeworth, who often sticks out among his castmates as a stick in the mud and the guy who keeps several spare cravats, it's great to find people who can relate to his love for tea and cravats and cute furry (and not so furry) creatures. So far Edgeworth can see himself and Steven talking more in the future, maybe learning about each other more, because Steven could be trusted with secrets and things other people wouldn't take seriously.
POKEYMANS tell him more about them because he must know if there are dog pokeymans.
Iris was Edgeworth's first client as a defense attorney, all because Phoenix made him sub for him. Iris is, in part, to be credited for (re)teaching Edgeworth to believe in people by being a real hands-on lesson because it's one thing to believe and another thing to believe enough to keep her from being accused in court. And well, that lesson paid off. Edgeworth's belief in her innocence was not in vain and I think that helped him continue to believe more in people even if his job is pretty much doubting people. Right now? Despite not being completely innocent after all, Edgeworth finds that Iris only had good intentions (YEAH IN STABBING A DEAD BODY WITH A SWORD) and is generally a kindhearted, genuine person - a rarity especially considering the kinds of people you meet when you're a lawyer.
P.S. He's happy for her and Phoenix even if he doesn't...understand everything...about their love and all that shebang.
Why can't all teenage girls be like you, Rei? Coolheaded (which is ironic because she controls fire), clever, often in control...honestly, she reminds Edgeworth of himself. He believes she can go far in life, even if she didn't have her powers, and also sees how she moves forward even when her loved ones are sent home. SINCE WE'RE DOING THE THREAD WHERE REI TELLS HIM HER SECRET that's a really major development and he does feel honored that she entrusts something that to him. It makes him admire her more though...dealing with the usual Cerealia stuff along with that responsibility on her shoulders.
Edgeworth knows Chibi mostly through England so there's still a lot he doesn't know about him, but the little he knows is pretty good. Chibi is also looking for answers and seems to have a very good head on his shoulders, and so far, he gets along with Edgeworth well enough whenever they talk. They should really talk about embarrassing England stories. But on the whole, Chibi still strikes Edgeworth as...sort of an enigma.
I know you're dropping, but I owe you this so here ye go <3
It's not everyday you meet a new friend from a world with not a lot of technology in a virtual reality after being dropped into a lake full of sharks. But here they are; Edgeworth enjoys the company of this dependable young woman, and admires her eagerness to learn and figure out her new surroundings, as well as adapt. He knows she can handle things on her own but at the same time he worries about her well-being because while she's capable, she's bound to run into obstacles that are much more difficult. He doesn't know how much of a daddy he's becoming to Addie despite how formally he treats her though.
