Because soon his heart will learn to love again from all this cuteness!!! And all that fun stuff. But yes they need to pal around and she needs to do his cute hair and then dote on him like a big sister even though he's older than her sob...... They clearly need to be good friends again so that if anything bad happens between them in the future it'll be just as heartbreaking I MEAN. Megumi would still protect him though!!!
