BEAUTIFUL PRECIOUS KIRIGIRI. As is abundantly obvious!! Leon has a thing for her and is so ready to ask her out sometime, as soon as he stops being a gigantic loser. Clearly she wouldn't ever say yes to a gigantic loser! Honestly, part of his dithering is that he's fairly certain she's going to say no. If she does, he's not the kind of guy who's going to hold it against her or let it ruin their friendship; she's really important to him as a friend, too. But he's still not looking forward to being shot down, and so he's fussing over setting up a perfect situation in order to delay what he sees as the inevitable.

That's a tangent, though. Leon's feelings on Kirigiri are still a little twisted up, and he's not ready to confront all of them yet. On a conscious level that he understands, he's extremely grateful she's here and that they're friends. He was expecting some sort of blowback for everything that happened at home, and it's taken him a while to accept that Kirigiri (and Naegi, and the others) isn't harboring some secret resentment or distaste for him because of Hope's Peak. But by now he finally believes it, and he's starting to ease into having a normal friendly relationship with her. It's not like the weight of it isn't there hanging over him, because it still is, and it makes him awkward--but he's starting to be able to work through it and be normal supportive friends, which is exactly what he wants.

(Consciously. Unconsciously, there's some more going on inside of him that he doesn't understand or know how to deal with, and it might come out eventually, but he doesn't really want it to.)

He appreciates a lot that she's there for him, including him in things and informing him and comforting him and supporting him. If it weren't for her, he'd be worse off mentally than he is here, and he knows it. The more comfortable he gets, the more he appreciates it, and the more he would really like to show his appreciation by getting touchy-feely with her because that's what he does. It doesn't hurt that she's beautiful and has a cute little smile . . .

He's a little torn about it, though, because as a general rule he doesn't date seriously, and he's not sure what sort of thing they could even work out or what he'd want himself. He definitely doesn't see her as just another hot chick to try and get lucky with, which complicates things. But for now he's not worried about it, because he doesn't foresee it ever coming to that point anyway. He just wishes. He cares for her deeply, anyway, and would protect her in any way he needed to if it came to that. And he trusts her, despite the complications that come along with his situation with canonmates; she's proven that she cares about him too. That means everything to him in this screwed up situation they've found themselves in.
