scaryintuition: (depressed)

[Hide doesn't want to drag anyone into his...hobbies. Especially if he turns out to be right in his suspicions. There's no telling how dangerous CERES could be when crossed. But taking into account how they pretty much run the entire city, they can probably be quite dangerous. However, it's because of the danger that it might be better if he had like-minded allies. And apparently Kaneki's become quite the formidable foe.

But he's getting way ahead of himself. Despite how fantastical what they've been told sounds, those memories he'd seen in the theater of the 20th ward burning had felt so real. It is quite possible that everything they've been told is true. It doesn't explain the movies, but it wouldn't be the first time Hide has read too much into things. Still, he's glad that he's not the only one thinking that something is fishy.]

Yeah, it would. But even if they aren't completely destroyed, they must be pretty bad off for us to be here.

[He might not believe everything they've been told, but he is willing to believe that they're here because remaining on their world is too dangerous or impossible.

Hide is more than willing to tell Kaneki all about what he's been doing during their separation. He doesn't know how Kaneki will feel about hearing he has been working with the CCG though. But it had been the only way he could think of to gather more information on his friend's whereabouts. It's not as if he could have gotten that kind of information in the morning paper. The job had also given him some more insight into what had been done to his friend. The one thing that eludes him is Kanou's reasons for his experiments.

He knows what Kaneki thought. That he was protecting Hide. That if Hide found out the truth he would react badly. They're reasonable enough responses. But Hide is still somewhat hurt that Kaneki believed so thoroughly that he would reject him.]

You thought you were protecting me, right? Geez, Kaneki. You're so hopeless sometimes.

[His words are said kindly, with a smile that takes away the sting of the words themselves. A part of him can't help but feel frustrated at all the time they lost because of this. He could have been helping Kaneki more directly if only one of them had spoken up. But he'd thought that Kaneki would tell him eventually. And he definitely hadn't planned for Kaneki to go missing.

But Kaneki's next words wipe the grin from his face. He frowns, staring at his friend intently. Did he really not know?]

No, I don't. Of course not. It's like I told you, you're still you. If anyone is a monster it's...[Kanou.]...the one who did this to you.
