OKOK first, addendum on Oz and Yata: you can literally track how close Oz feels to a person based on how much he bullies them... THE MORE HE BULLIES YATA, THE MORE HE VIEWS HIM AS A FRIEND. It's a tragedy but that's just how things work with him because he's an actual literal moron. The reason why his bullying ramped up to mach 50 on Yata's last post is because he was worried... which I mentioned briefly in the brackets, but THAT IS LITERALLY IT. He was worried about yandere Yata making a mess of things for regular Yata and was distressed that his flawless closet plan didn't work, but instead of straight up being like "how are you, is everything okay?", he's just expressing relief that Yata seems to be fine...... by teasing him mercilessly. I'd say he isn't normally this bad but that's a lie... There is basically no ramping back down once he's decided that he likes someone enough to gently bully them. SORRY YATA.

But yes at this point Yata is one of his favorite people in Cereal so you can expect him to continue pestering Yata as often as possible. Gonna drag him to D&D sessions and tease him about his beanie and Yang... THAT SAID, since he's also hyperintuitive, he'll probably want to talk to Yata at some point about what he perceives as a fear of abandonment or loneliness. Like I mentioned in the last tlcr comment, he doesn't think that was a throw-away remark on Crazy Yata's part back when he was talking about everyone abandoning him, and the way he talks about Saru kind of solidified his worries. He's not the type of person who would pry inelegantly, but that's probably something he'll eventually broach.

KAORU AND YATA. OH BOY. So Yata, to Kaoru, seems entirely useless. Which would normally mean that he wouldn't bother Yata at all... He makes all of his friendships based on whether or not he could eventually use a person, with maybe like one or two exceptions. Yata is an exception because hE'S SO HILARIOUS... Literally, that's it. He's the new buttmonkey favorite. Kaoru thinks that his stilted awkwardness is the funniest shit in the world, and it gives him a relatively benign way of releasing some of his pent-up shitheadedness since he knows all he'd have to do is get a little flirty and the reactions would be 100% worth it. He also feels like he has a pretty good read on Yata so far too, since he, like Oona and Malia, seems to be a "what you see is what you get" kinda guy. Not really any hidden facets; he's just a gruff, awkward but kind beanie-wearing punk.

On the plus side (for Yata), the fact that Kaoru is only interested in him for the laughs he provides means that he probably won't go out of his way to learn more about Yata. WHICH IS GOOD because that means he won't know what weak spots to go after if he ever decides to launch any brutal personal attacks...

AND KAORU AND KOUGYOKU. Actually, they ended up really similar to Kaoru and Yata... LMFAO. He thought she was pretty entertaining just by virtue of being so easy to work up. She was also really sweet to him and full of compliments and nice things to say once they actually got to know each other a little better though, which he didn't mind! But she was basically in the same category of like, consistent and continued acquaintanceship. Kaoru wouldn't have gone out of his way to learn more about her if she had stuck around, but he wouldn't have actively tried to put distance between them, either. I feel like he probably would have ended up learning a lot about her anyway though just by virtue of her being kind of chatty and feeling comfortable with him... AND HE WOULDN'T HAVE TURNED IT DOWN, mostly because who ever turns down free info??

THAT SAID, HILARIOUSLY Kougyoku is the first person to "disappear" that Kaoru actually liked enough to notice, so she might be the reason that he eventually hits CERES up to be like "hey what's the deal with vanishing people??" so good work Kougyoku. He doesn't really miss her, but he sometimes misses having someone with her personality around... what a shit
