Yang thinks Killua is far too bristly for a kid, but because she's pretty easy-going with all personality types, she can roll with it and tease and harass him with no hesitation whatsoever. Honestly, if he tried to stab her, she'd just fight back and life would go on. The news about him being a (former) assassin has her more concerned than she's letting on, because that's not exactly a position for most people, and it makes her wonder about what he's been through and how fast he's had to grow up. It's also why she keeps teasing him and dragging him around so he can grumble and bicker and basically be the kid he is. Even when he's trying to sacrifice her, she still treated him casually-- but was definitely impressed when they tied during a race. Assassin stuff, she figures.
She didn't expect to be the one he called when his friend disappeared, but because he did, it's automatically placed him fairly high on the list of people Yang is going to be protective of. She might be reckless, and love to go all out, bu beyond that, she's a big sister, and this kid being distressed over his friend and being left behind really got to her. He's shown her a tiny bit of vulnerability, which means that she's going to be looking out for him even more now (and fighting alongside him, although she would have done that before anyway). He's an odd kid, but Yang trusts him, and wants to be there for him, so that there's no possible chance of him ever feeling alone.
