Kaoru has a pretty mild impression of Ai so far! She seems like a sweet and relatively mild-mannered person and someone who would probably be relatively easy to get on the good side of. She doesn't seem to like confrontation much, which works well enough for him, since he doesn't really like baseless confrontation either... OR RATHER, he doesn't like baseless confrontation while confined to the city equivalent of a fishbowl... He's not stupid enough to think he can cause trouble here and not have to deal with the consequences, which is why he's on his best behavior at all times.

BUT YES Ai's been nothing but pleasant to deal with so that instantly boosts her in his books! He doesn't particularly see her as useful, which means he won't really be going out of his way to interact with her as he might do with some of his other "friends". WHICH, HONESTLY, IS PROBABLY BEST FOR HER... No one needs this maniac hovering around their living space, basically, it's just bound to end badly for one or both of them. Of course, this may be subject to change if Kaoru ever finds out about her abilities?! ON THE OTHER HAND, he can already tell she isn't the kind of person who would abuse them, which would essentially make them useless to him. Friendships are all about the give and take of usefulness in his eyes so as long as Ai is "useless", she's pretty much going to be consistently stuck in the "acquaintance" category, which is better for her health and sanity. GOOD WORK, FRIEND.

As far as personality goes though, since she's so agreeable to be around, she's one of the acquaintances that he wouldn't mind spending more time with! Like just someone to shoot the shit with or hang out with when he has nothing else to do. He is also genuinely sorry that she had to deal with Shuu but that's less because he likes her and more because he hates Shuu, whoops... gotta take what you can get with morons like him.
