HE IS SOU 3 and holy shit just writing this is cracking me up because i still can't believe how dumb they are even now...

SO BASICALLY, Kaoru has been put in a really weird and unique and uncomfortable position here in Cerealia, with that position being that 1) this is the longest he's ever had to maintain his facade without any breaks at all and 2) this is hands down the most important situation to maintain a facade that he's ever been in... If he hecks up here and people find out what a shit he is, he can't just hop towns and start over. HE'S STUCK... LIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO WILL (RIGHTFULLY) HATE HIM..... And while Kaoru doesn't exactly care about being hated, he cares about how difficult living will be if something like that happens. Especially since he really needs cooperation and trust if he wants to get this info gig up and running...

SO. What does this mean for Sou 3 and Kaoru?? It means that Kaoru is so desperate for an outlet for his shitheadedness that he's "befriending" (his version of befriending?!) anyone who learns about it and isn't bothered by it/wouldn't talk about it to other people. In literally any other situation, Soujirou murdering both himself and Chizuru would trump aLL ELSE. Kaoru would pretty much stop at nothing to try ruining his life and making him miserable and would probably come up with 14000 complex schemes to do that in, which would honestly be a waste of time and effort on his part since Soujirou is so Soujirou. AND THAT'S BASICALLY HOW THINGS STARTED... Like he was 510% down with dedicating a portion of his attention solely to destroying Soujirou.

But then Sousei became a more insistent problem and Shuu moved into his apartment and started to make his life miserable and took away the only place that he could really go to in order to relax and wind down and stop pretending, so Kaoru started to care less and less about ULTIMATE REVENGE since so much of his attention was starting to go to just... holding back his murder urges, basically?? SOMEONE HELP THIS CHILD.

Anyway he's still buttblasted about the murder thing and finds Soujirou terminally annoying, but beggars can't be choosers, basically. There are only like five people in all of Cerealia who know he can be a shithead and he despises two of them so?! HIS PICKINGS ARE SLIM. Soujirou is someone he'd absolutely avoid or murder or murder and avoid if he had the choice, but somehow his thirst for a venting outlet is stronger than his thirst for stupid revenge... FOR NOW. Obviously this is subject to change because Kaoru is as fickle as a spring storm.

PERSONALITY ASIDE (since he thinks Soujirou is intentionally a dickbag and a sneaky shithead and really irritating on top of all that and thus finds his personality REPELLENT), he actually is somewhat interested in his background? OR LIKE... It's not a personal investment, obviously, but he's curious to know why Soujirou views things so similarly, and he wants to know how deep those similar worldviews run. He never runs into people who think similarly to him?! FOR GOOD REASON SINCE HE'S FUCKIN INSANE but still. It's novel, so he's interested.

I feel like I'll have a lot more to add once they start working together (I'm laughing because all of your characters except Jason could reasonably work with Kaoru) BUT FOR NOW that's the gist. Stuck in Soujirou hell because he has no other friends and hating it...
