The more they talked, and the more of Oona's bullshit Kaoru put up with, the more Oona liked him. She already felt a sort of bond with the whole "my people were nearly wiped out/I'm the head of my clan" thing even though Oona's story isn't nearly the same. It was more of a "you hate people too, SO DO I let's hate together."
Kaoru doesn't dissuade Oona's misanthropic views and, while not outright actively encouraging it, he gives her a good sounding board and a reason to keep stubbornly clinging to those views.
Also even though I use 'he' in the OOC brackets a lot, Oona IS still under the impression Kaoru's a girl and thinks she's very pretty. She's definitely in a "hey if you wanna bang we should bang winkwonk" and has half a mind to crawl on Kaoru and just cuddle up to him because she's reached that level of feeling comfortable with him.
Also Kaoru has a tendency to show up and help her fix her mistakes ala spilling dirt EVERYWHERE so she's like THANK GOD SOMEONE'S GOT MY BACK. Likewise if Kaoru needs her for anything, he'd gladly jump to help him almost no matter what it was. Congrats on your pet attack mermaid.

Tenka means e v e r y t h i n g to Oona right now. He's her closest CR, the one she trusts the most, and she definitely looks to him as a big brother figure. He was the first human to, you know, take her seriously and admit straight up that humans can be awful; and unlike Kaoru, Tenka actually offered the idea of NOT ALL HUMANS.
He's so persistent in pursuing this friendship with Oona, and Oona has no idea how to handle it. Why does he care so much? Why does he care about her so much? I feel like she tries to shock him and scare him away--claiming she likes killing, that she wants all humans to be destroyed, etc. but he just... takes it. He takes it and accepts it--accepts her-- and in the end she finds herself really wanting more of that. He feeds her fish and tries to teach her how to use chopsticks and cute things like that HE'S SO PATIENT WITH HER bless u saint tenka.
He reminds her a lot of her older brother and in some ways of her mother as well, so Oona has latched onto him quickly. When she's scared or angry, she knows she can go to him and everything will be okay again; Tenka is safety and security for her.
In the end she realizes she doesn't know nearly as much about Tenka as she thinks she should, and she has no idea how to even think about repaying him for everything he's done so far, but her pact with Sousei to watch over him seems like a good start. She really does love him like family, though she would be reluctant to admit it out loud to anyone but him, and she hopes she can get her tail back eventually so she can show him how she used to be.

In all she finds Shirasu polite and gentle, but... off. Oona can't quite put her finger on it, and she's suspicious of his motivations for coming to her rescue and being so nice to her all the time-- BUT to be fair, she's suspicious of EVERYONE. She just thinks he's a strange person for helping her and looking at for her, but she doesn't really mind it either.
Also he's REALLY PRETTY and Oona really likes pretty things. If she had the mind to she'd want to keep him some place to look at him all the time, but considering what happened to her there's no way she'd actually do anything like that. She'll settle for touching him a lot and staring at him.
And yes she still think him and Tenka were mates at some point, although now there's a big ol' question mark hanging over it because she's not sure where they stand now. she'll probably ask tenka about it at some point just to make things awkward.

He's very serious and straightforward, which is SO REFRESHING. Oona thinks humans aren't open and honest enough, so it's nice to finally meet one who is much more mermaid-like.This also makes Oona trust him more, because she trusts he won't lie to her--and if he says he's going to protect her, she'll hold him to that.
He's the one who knows more about what she went through than anyone, though that's mostly because he just said the right things to provoke it lmao but. Yeah. basically Oona trusts him a lot an is Very Serious about Operation Protect Tenka from Himself.
and no she won't stop invading his personal space maybe he'll calm down if he gets laid.

She also DOES remind Oona a lot of one of her older sisters, and she's pretty, so Oona's like "now if only Yang was a mermaid, then everything would be perfect." Yang has a definite "confident big sister" air about her that draws Oona in,and while Oona herself isn't sure if she considers Yang a "best friend" or "big sister figure," she would admit that she gets that kind of vibe from her. If that makes sense. Basically Oona is a big ol' tsundere when it comes to actually putting names out loud to her relationships.
The most important thing is that Yang gave Oona the idea to talk to the heads of this place in an effort to find her scale again. While that fate is still up in the air, Oona got the push she needed and the idea from Yang, so she feels like she basically owes Yang her life at this point; she'll do just about anything Yang might ask if she decides to cash in that favor.
