Basically, Ai is the kind of girl he'd like back in his Shirou days. Now, though, she's an incredible pushover who he thinks lacks a bit of a grip on realism. It's annoying because he could see her being a lot better. Which is why is picks on her and taunts her. Because the things he says are actually useful advice and stuff. He just says it in a way that makes it harmful on the pride to do what he says.

Terrible. But the day she ends up reading his mind or something is the day he either decides to trust her or get mad at her. DEPENDS ON HOW CLOSE THEY ARE AT THAT POINT?

Ryuko is pretty much what Archer would have been at her age if he had summoned anyone other than Saber in his younger days. Rather than the noble hero, he would have been the hard fighting underdog. And believe me, he definitely sees that. The wanting to help people she doesn't even know kind of rankles on him pretty hard but he really enjoys setting her off just so he could see how he'd react in the same position if he had that personality.

Still, no matter how aggressive or angry she gets with him, he'll probably not get mad at her. Even with unprovoked attacks!!!!! It's just one of those casual things where he doubt's he'll ever actually dislike Ryuko unless she, for some reason, decides to seriously hurt Rin? Minorly hurting her is okay though Rin might order him to beat her up and not much he can do there.

BUT YEAH. He's pretty cool with Ryuko. Which is why he treats her so harshly.

america ➝ sousei: america respects sousei so much........ SO MUCH. it's kind of like his one actually serious relationship in all of cerealia and it's incredible. he's sort of projecting a little onto sousei, his own ache to be back home so when he sees someone so dedicated to their country, who holds themselves like a soldier and treats things like his duty, it just means a lot to america. he wouldn't talk to any of the other nations here about it because he just doesn't like them very much but when he talks to sousei, sees and hears his appreciation and dedication to his country...! it makes him feel better, like it's the closest he can get to being back home in this moment and temporarily fills up the hole in him when it comes to not being around his country and his people. america thinks if he told sousei how he views himself in relation to his country, sousei would agree with him and that means a lot to him. america isn't dedicated to any government, he's dedicated to his people and he knows sousei feels the same. he wishes japan were here because he could talk to japan about this feelings too but sousei's the next best bet, kind of like bridging a gap. so really, he respects him, he wants to make him proud even if sousei isn't his citizen, and he's glad to have at least one example in a place so far off from home of people who are really dedicated to their country.

Okay, so Natalia is weird and confusing and kind of reminds Killua of the vague idea of a mom according to what a mom is supposed to be, except that his mom is the kind of mom who poisoned all his food and sent him to the torture chamber and cried tears of joy when he stabbed her and ran away from home.

THAT SAID... the whole princess thing is very cool and even if the lecturing is super annoying, Killua can actually really respect someone who stands up for their beliefs like that. He's not there with Natalia yet, but it could happen.

Plus he just. has no idea how to deal with someone fussing over him, having her actually worry about him being hurt like she was when they first met is just kind of a "what do" situation for him. Natalia's confusing! But maybe she's kind of like what an older sister would be like if he hadn't grown up in a batshit crazy assassin family...

Kotarou Fuuma would like you to know, sir, that you've ruined his life at least as much as he ruined yours.

Getting to know Tenka and his family is the best and worst thing Shirasu has ever done, in his opinion. Tenka and the others loved him, accepted him, and showed him a life he would otherwise have never known existed. And Shirasu wishes he could hate Tenka for it, because now he's broken. He's broken and a failure and now being with his clan feels like it's not ever going to be enough, because they behave as Fuuma should. But after everything went wrong with the Orochi, Shirasu had started to build something that might have borne fruit in a generation or two, and he had just started to come to terms with his pain and what he'd done -- by not dealing with it so much but using it as fuel to make changes in the clan -- but coming to Cerealia has sort of destroyed any progress.

Like a lot of his early education from the Kumou, Shirasu cares about things because Tenka cares about them. Until talking in the garden, Shirasu barely gave a thought to killing the Kumou parents or causing Soramaru trauma. He had to care more about Tenka's injuries because he had regular exposure to the consequences, but even then, the feelings were muted. A sort of "well, it's done; nothing to be accomplished by dwelling on it" outlook where his personal feelings didn't factor in. He managed any stray feelings that came up, put them into a little box in his mind and moved on. But he's not the same person he was back then. Losing his brother in combination with losing the direction the Orochi provided left deeper scars than he's willing to admit. Tenka wants to know where the "real" Shirasu is and Shirasu can't tell him. Not really because he doesn't know -- he has a better idea than he did when Tenka asked him that -- but because the "real" Shirasu desperately misses the family he threw away, and is torn between hoping maybe there's a future and being almost certain it's gone for good. And then his brother's voice -- his father and mother's voices -- the leader's voice -- rise and insist any connection with Tenka or his family isn't just misguided, it's wrong. It's treason against his true family and their memories. They didn't give their lives or make those sacrifices for Shirasu to let others into his heart. The Ceremony made his heart small -- there isn't enough room. Not to mention he'd be unfit to lead his clan. He's the only one who can make the changes to give them better lives.

This is where dogma and trauma and fear mix together to set out circumstances that, when come into contact with Tenka, completely overwhelm him. He doesn't know what to do around Tenka anymore. He's constantly afraid, even while constantly seeking him. Tenka's never done anything to lose Shirasu's love or respect. And that Tenka hasn't rejected him is stupefying. In his heart he knows that's just who Tenka is. But Shirasu can't comprehend it. It's not rational. His mother hated him for killing his father -- he's done much more to Tenka than just that. Shirasu would have accepted rejection and hate from Tenka. Tenka's "you're still family" viewpoint is baffling. So, he's waiting every second for the hammer to fall. And Shirasu's also afraid he'll start doubting the necessity of everything he's done.

america ➝ ciel: people who need to chill out: ciel phantomhive. this is what america 100% believes and he also 100% believes that ciel doesn't hate him as much as he acts like he does. his assessment of ciel is like: a kid who acts way too old for his age and is probably still caught up in the behavior of his back home life instead of adjusting to his cerealia life. it is totally america's job to break that of course?? if he's totally honest with himself, he kind of wants to be there for ciel (and oz too) since they seem like kind of damaged kids who need someone less shitty in their lives. he doesn't know ciel's background but if someone could be so bad at being a kid like ciel, he must obviously not have had the best childhood. america wants him to enjoy himself! america wants him to take him out for laser tag and really bad food! you're gonna learn to enjoy yourself some day, ciel!! even if america has to shove it down your throat.

Killua thinks Malia's pretty cool because she put her hand through a computer screen and didn't even blink and that is totally his kind of people. What do you mean show pain, THAT'S FOR THE WEAK.

She doesn't treat him like a kid and he appreciates that, though. He'd totally hang out and laugh at her sucking at video games some more. And maybe even teach her how to play. Or duo up with her in ViViD and wreck things.

malia ➝ rock lee: ROCK LEE IS WAY TOO EXCITED. but rock lee is a very strong person?! malia likes strong people because she is also very strong. she also likes when those strong people are nice too. what's good about lee and malia is they're both pretty pure and genuine people so when lee asks straight up LET ME TRAIN YOU and malia's just like sure okay, she really means it. she's definitely going to lee's training sessions every single time and listening to him completely. she's very dutiful like that! so, lee, if you want to show her THE SPRINGTIME OF YOUTH, she is very much there and willing to listen. there is potential here, sensei!!!

No, I'm so sorry, that's really about it, Killua is awful... She bought him so many sweets, though, now he's expecting them from her. He'll even put up with the bright and perky attitude if he has to if it means she keeps him drowning in chocolate.

The terrible cookies are going to be like his life's biggest disappointment, but he might eat them anyway since it's not like they can be worse than actual poisoned cookies, right? RIGHT?

malia ➝ killua: people who should probably be aware that killua is a tiny child: malia. but no, instead she talks to him like normal and when he says things that people don't expect a kid to say, she just carries on like normal. malia expects most people to have some sort of level of competence, some sort of survival instinct! she assumes killua has the basic instincts to sustain himself -- get food, water, shelter, not let bigger enemies kill you. so far, he has shown these traits! this makes killua capable in malia's eyes and she has no reason to dismiss him. if he shows he's a good fighter too, she will even respect him more. SHE'LL TAKE YOU UP ON THAT VIVID INVITE, KILLUA.

Killua isn't really sure what to make of Totsuka. On the one hand, he's really pathetic. Like seriously, really pathetic, he's apparently part of a gang or something, how has he not gotten himself killed???

On the other hand, he's a nice guy, and Yata who is a total thug really respects him. Killua's curious about him. Plus, he can't tell yet if Totsuka is really that oblivious or if he was just totally trolling Yata, and he needs to know this kind of thing. IT'S A MYSTERY.
