Izuminokami Kanesada | Touken Ranbu

Phase II

[So after his harrowing experience with slipping down that rather unstable tower, Kanesada is, understandably, on edge and quite done with this experience already. Everything is new and unfamiliar as he looks around, taking in the impossibly unfinished city around him. How can those houses be standing when a wall is completely missing or why do some of the people walk in the same short loops around a single point?

Not to mention those people being unfinished, too. It's like someone got careless in the smithing process and didn't add in enough of something. Like...how.

He shudders and grips the hilt of his sword - himself - a little tighter. He's the only thing right in this place and while that's certainly an ego boost, it's still way too unsettling.

Kanesada walks past one house - this time roofless - when an NPC seems to materialize out of nowhere at the corner and phases right through him, causing a noise to leave his lips, and he steps backward, only to hear a yapping at his feet as a dog with no legs zooms on by.

H...ow?]

No. Screw this. I'm done.

[If only it were that easy.]

Phase III

[Legless dogs are one thing, but when an actual monster shows up, Kanesada knows he's really in for a rough time. Except actual monsters are what he's good at dealing with, so even though this one likes to not die, it's more of a rush for him. Less creepy and more exhilarating.

Okay, it's still pretty creepy how the damn thing doesn't stop, no matter how much he throws at it. And it's a lot bigger than him, which makes things more difficult, but that's fine. He just needs to get the jump on it!

Which is what Kanesada eventually does, having managed to find a roof in this godforsaken place. It helps that the monster announces itself with broken music, so he can actually track it relatively easily. And when it twitches below his vantage point, he jumps, sword drawn and ready to pierce!]

Gotchya!

[If he can get it between the neck and shoulders...

Wait, does it even really have such a spot? Whatever, gonna find out now.

Except the monster turns around, one of its mismatched arms swinging out to catch him and when it connects, some of Kanesada's hair suddenly disappears.

...Oh, hell no.]

You bastard, try that again!

[Someone please save him.]

Wildcard!

[Beam me up, Scotty]
