CLEARLY YOU UNDERESTIMATE ME or at least the degree to which she pays way too much attention to people and internalizes things.

Given the circumstances of their initial meeting, Naminé had (has?) some reason to be a little bit suspicious of him. That's not really his fault, since in actuality it's largely because of her own past experiences; she's not overly comfortable interacting with strangers in the first place, and in a rough neighborhood she's even less so once she actually, you know, realizes it's a rough neighborhood. There's something just a bit too conscious about his smiles for her taste, which is kind of ironic since she's prone to smiling on purpose, herself.

Except ignore everything I just said up there, because that's pretty much irrelevant in the face of his ongoing Acting Like an Alright Guy. He did help her out in the first place, which does him considerable credit and is definitely not something she's inclined to overlook. She just needs some time to talk to him to ascertain his probable motivations and get past the 'stranger danger' alarm bells before she can be properly comfortable with being in his presence, but so far and totally in spite of that she is tentatively presuming that he's a good guy. There's probably like a little question mark next to his name on some mental list she has of Acceptable Company, but at least he's on the list. For now.

He happens to strike her as someone who's reasonably intelligent and thinks through things, which... does actually make her slower to trust him, because she's used to shounen types who have no brain to mouth filter and that's what she's comfortable with despite being someone who is also super cagey, sorry Marco. Long story short: he seems like an okay guy, she just needs some time to get over her own hesitations.
