SO! Takeru doesn't really know Ankh but he is curious about him. Why else would he mention something that's opposite of what he believes in. People were suppose to be sad when they're alone so why wouldn't they? Granted he is only 7 years old and doesn't quite understand the world just yet!

But he still wants to try and befriend Ankh though!

Oh sweet child, you know so little of how the world works. It probably doesn't help anything that Ankh isn't a human and while the value of friendship is not lost on him, that's a fairly recent development.
