Mabel might not know Merlin that well but she gets the impression that he needs more confidence in himself! After her little talk, she believes that he is a lot better than he thinks. So what if she might have made some masks mad, that didn't mean he need to put himself down! And as long as he finds some way to make it up to them, everything will be okay!

Of course, while it might be her naivety showing, she truly thinks that he can do more than he thinks! And she'll hope the best for him! That and we need to have them interact some more.
