I know they haven't had much interaction except for the intro log but I'd love to hear Merlin's thoughts on Darin

Anyway! Darin seems like a pretty upbeat guy though he's a bit worried that it might make things harder for him when thing get problematic. He genuinely thinks that he's a good guy, and that he'd definitely be a valuable asset here if he can get set up with smithing!

I wanna know his thoughts on Inaba this sounds like a good idea.

Inaba often surprises him as for some reason he had it in his head that she's fairly quiet and keeps to herself though that is probably in contrast to the others who work in the cafe... ah. Though she definitely seems like a nice person underneath the swear words and bluntness now that he has more of an idea of what she's like. He'd like to get to know her better though, because he figures there's still probably lots that she doesn't know and really in comparison........... she probably knows like 1% about him too.

Hello!!!!

In simple terms, Chibi both frustrates and weirds him out (mostly because of the conversations they've had before re: relationships... be it about in Chibi's world or Merlin's own relationship) but on the plus side, he does think he's very helpful and friendly. He's just a bit... weird.

As Chibi's powers and what he's spoken of his world sound so different though, he really would like to sit down and just learn about them more -- just maybe next time leave the incest out of it [squints]

Merlin and Mabel!

They still haven't spoken too much but the first word that springs to mind is "naive". Mostly re: what she said about the Flamines. He doesn't believe any of the options here are fit for them, and her trying to talk around it by saying "try again and try and be friends" is both frustrating and... saddening, honestly. Mostly because he worries what that blind naivety will do in the long run.

He'd like to get to know her better outside of that too though tbh! She seems really sweet, and her heart is in the right place it's just............. yeah.

Basically though, he probably understands her more than she realises, given how he had to shift into isolation when his powers became more noticable (it also doesn't help that he gets his kicks from risking everything just to make a horse out of smoke... smh..... ) but Yuri's gifts definitely seem exhausting and horrible to endure, so she gets a lot of respect from him for that. Plus, what her and Rei/Mars did was pretty amazing in itself. He really meant it when he thanked her for helping the spirits, especially after knowing what happened to that place later.

In terms of outside the interlude, her abilities definitely make him curious! But he won't really press on that for a while, instead he just wants to work on her learning to get to know him as well and while they're definitely friends already now, to get to know each other better.

Rei first!

I'm actually struggling to articulate this properly without actually losing anything from it because... Rei means a lot to him. Like an incredible amount. She's been there since he first got here, helped him learn about other worlds and places, helped him learn about himself -- both good and bad -- and hasn't actually left even knowing the worse parts. He admires her greatly. She's strong, doesn't let anyone tell her what's what and just Gets On with things.

She also puts up with him which is pretty a+ lbr.

She is most definitely one of his few best friends here, and he'd easily dive into danger for her. He wishes that she hadn't had to feel the sorrow of losing Minako, even if it's something he doesn't really Get completely, he just wants her to be Okay.

also sorry for giving her the longest hug friends have ever had... but watching her die did wreck him a bit. fuck his own death tbh... her and yu going was the Worst.

Yuna!

Yuna seems like a sweet girl, even if she controls aeons that can knock ten lives out of you. She's a bit of a mystery at this point because they don't know each other that well, but she definitely seems like she's a kind and caring person which is good!

BASICALLY Dana I'm so grateful for the last thread we had... they both really should check in at some point because he never told her he was okay from the Labyrinth and then the Interlude happened and neither of them were okay.

They're still stuck in this cycle of trying to figure out how to act around each other, which buttons to stop pressing to make things worse, how to console... and it's quite a big learning experience because Lili always feels unpredictable, like he has no idea how she'll react to anything. He plans on trying harder now that she seemed more understanding of his decision to go to the Labyrinth and the tasks he wanted to do there, so that's something!!

He thinks Jaune is a bit dumb (he isn't wrong lbr) but someone with a heart of gold. It kind of sticks because one of the first things Jaune said to him was him asking Merlin to be friends so....... he also sees him as this desperate loser I'm sorry Jaune...

Maybe one day he will prove himself to be badass, but it hasn't happened yet.

He really doesn't know her that well (mostly because I keep failing to hit up your posts as they land on bad times for me gomen dsgkjndg) but she definitely seems like a lovely, bubbly girl! When Rei speaks of her, it's always with such fondness that he probably would struggle to see any faults in her either honestly, even if she's a bit clutzy etc. (tbh his g/f is... what does it matter)

She's super outgoing and friendly, so really there's no problems or anything negative here.

NO OK SERIOUSLY... Maya... he wants to shake her sometimes because he feels like she doesn't take him seriously. While he can't tell what she's been through or anything like that, he feels like sometimes she plays up to a certain image because no one can seriously be that dumb (right...????????)

Despite that, she does seem caring and thoughtful... I mean she kept trying to call him while he was dead after all and was worried about him. That counts for something, right?????

Well hello there *^*

Ah, Namine... sweet sweet Namine. He still doesn't know her too well but wow have they had some heavy conversations. In a way he sees a lot of his own struggle in her, which means he doesn't want her to feel as alone as she apparently does. After trying to help Morgana back home with things despite being unable to be open about his own powers, he's learnt a lot on how to handle things and really the way he treats Namine is much better.

He knows how much support can mean when you feel alone, and really he just wants her to know that she does have options and choices available to her if she wants them.

In terms of her personality, she seems really shy, quiet and withdrawn which he can understand given what he's gathered of her circumstances. Despite that though, she's trusted him more than he expected she would and he appreciates that. She also has shown kindness, even though she clearly has worries about some things he's unaware of.
