Athena IS A BRO! A KIND OF WEIRD. Bro. He loves her and values her but she is definitely weird; he still can't really figure aspects of her out. She's like a whirlwind! A force of nature! But then sometimes she's embarrassed about things and worries way too much?! She's a genius but also kinda sheltered about some stuff! And so on. She's a person of contrasts, and Leon is never sure what he's going to get out of her. But he likes her and appreciates her friendship, and he wants to keep being friends. HE SUPPORTS HER AND MERLIN and hopes she makes a move and gets the D. (Not that he knows who Merlin is. He needs to find that out and meet him at some point.) He's been able to tell for ages that she wasn't actually into him (Leon) even though she never said no to his advances and even agreed to dates and stuff, so in a way it's a relief to have her dating someone else and to not have to think about that anymore; the more he gets to know her the less attracted he is to her anyway, which sounds insulting but is not. (It's just that she's not actually his type. Though he still thinks she's hot.) So he won't hit on her again even if something happens with her and Merlin, though that doesn't mean he won't still compliment her and stuff. Because she IS still hot. But he's totally fine and kinda relieved to be in the friend zone now forever and now they can have dumb conversations and it's great.

As harsh as it may be, this is Togami we are talking about, and in his estimation Leon's most positive quality is his convenience. It's convenient that he's a classmate that understands some things without being told! It's convenient that he's willing to be an ally and a friend when he is in need of connections and... general human interaction. And someone to trust. And of course it is now also convenient that if he has any physical urges he can try to make Leon deal with them.
Basically it's hard for him to say that he likes or dislikes Leon. But he appreciates him in a way that he isn't entirely conscious of. Leon treats him like a normal, flawed human, but also a normal flawed human that he kind of likes, which is a unique combination of qualities that usually doesn't get applied to him. Maybe, it's kind of fun to be a normal flawed human?? A little. And if it's not, then Leon has no illusions that Togami is not a standoffish analytical rich kid, so he can retreat to that whenever he wants without sacrificing much. So he's become pretty comfortable with him. He's still resistant to Leon getting actually close to him though, and will continue to try to hold him at a certain emotional distance. Even though he partially relies on Leon to help him through vulnerable moments, and even though Leon occasionally sneaks past his guard a little, he tries to make sure he gets out of that situation before he exposes anything.
He'd probably look out for Leon if a dangerous situation arose and it probably wouldn't be 100% out of obligation, but, still a lot of that.

As it happens, Togami has a lot of experience dealing with morons...... For as much as he acts intolerant and superior, he'll wrangle people who are way more irritating than Raven, as long as they are otherwise useful. In a way, since he barely gets along with anyone, it actually makes him particularly capable of dealing with annoying or facetious people, since he doesn't see liking someone as a requirement for interacting with them, lol.
He doesn't really "like" Raven either, but he definitely doesn't dislike him, and after the interlude he has a sense of Raven being actually capable behind all the frivolity. That's something he can at least appreciate, and he has overall positive feelings. And now it seems like Raven already has connections, which is pretty impressive for someone who hasn't even been here that long!! Now that I think about it he's kind of similar to another more adult character in DR canon that Togami actually outright praises for being capable.
Also even though Togami is very serious and sincere about how he doesn't have respect for his elders as a general group—he has so much heavy life experience and high standards that age alone isn't impressive to him—Raven actually did catch him off guard in their first thread when he got that serious about getting numb to death. It was more... on his level?? Togami tries to smack people down with shock value a lot but Raven seems relatively immune. In general he thinks Raven "gets it" more than most people he meets, and that's kinda comforting, in its own way.

Haa. Poor confused Leon. But Usagi canonically is the last person most anyone would actually expect to be Sailor Moon so. It works. I'm sure in time he'll reconcile the two impressions easily enough. I think if anything she would prob message him and the others from the interlude group to keep it on the down low. But now he knows.

Hiro to Rei: Rei is basically the big sister he never had, bottom line. Rei is all of the good parts of Tadashi and Cass mixed together but also the parts of him that are a little awkward and unsure and after a few little bumps he finally feels like he fully understands her. He has a very high amount of respect for her not only because of who Mars is, but because Rei herself has proven to be intelligent and capable and he feels as though he can talk to her about pretty much anything. He adores her, plain and simple. Absolutely the best of the senshi. He knows she doesn't need his protection but he wants to be good enough that he can fight alongside her as they have been. She's also one of his favorite people to spend time with since it doesn't always have to involve constantly talking. He appreciates Rei and generally has grown up to be a better man because of her continually steering him in the right direction with firm looks and positive reinforcement.
Rise to Rei: Nice girl, could use some more friends, generally speaking Rise knows that Rei is closer to Yu and Yosuke and would like to take matters into her own hands. I fell off the boat and forgot to loop around for post-interlude check-in but she's someone that she likes talking to and still would like to get to know better. Hiro thinks that Lili's incredibly brave and also finds ease in knowing she'll take charge when necessary. She's determined like he is and those are qualities he likes in people. He'd like to get to know her a little better though and will probably wander to bother her on his own accord sooner or later.
Even though you dropped him, Rise thought Tytree was pretty funny and earnest and she appreciated his desire to want to help people and befriend them. She would have liked to get to know him better as well.
NOW FOR SUPER INTENSE FEMALE FRIENDSHIPS.
Okay so basically Rise and Lili...Rise still doesn't claim to fully understand Lili at all. The girl's a mystery to her on the best of days and sometimes she finds she still has to be careful when talking to her so she doesn't anger her or spook her. On the other hand it's getting a lot easier now that she and Lili are opening up to each other and she knows what kind of person Lili is. Deep down under the layers of tsuntsuntsun there's a very sweet, admirable girl who just wants to do her best and not fail and is intensely loyal to the people she cares about, someone who hasn't had many people care about her at all and Rise resonates with that. She wants to continually stick to Lili to prove she's worth caring about and worth the love and attention people give her. She finds her to be funny and a healthy challenge and now that they're slowly becoming friends she's easier to talk to.
She hasn't had many girl friends and she gets the feeling that Lili hasn't either, so she wants to continue to push her way through to being one for her and gaining one in return. She feels that they both want to be stronger and better and she gets that Lili will understand her need to want to keep everyone safe and do things for herself. However, she knows she has to be patient with her and will continue to be a pillar of support even if Lili tries to push her away. She's very special to her and she's acknowledged that so far she likes Lili more than Lili may like Rise (though that might have changed since their post-revival thread, who knows), but she's okay with that because it means having compassion for another human and making things better. Lili represents the rewards of hard effort and she feels that she is very, very lucky to have someone like her on her side.

LEON IS STILL A BUTT but Rise's basically allowing most of his insults to roll off of her like water rolls off of a duck. She's pretty sure he's mostly all bark and little bite when it comes to their interactions and she's used to this with Kanji on a smaller scale. She's caught on to the fact that Leon can generally be a nice person for the people he feels are worth it which...is maybe 2% of the entire colony. Gosh, Leon. In all seriousness even before Otome told her she had to keep trying she picked up that sense when Leon checked in with her post-robots and again post-interlude. She wants to continue reaching out to him and his fussiness does very little to deter her. Sometimes he startles her and she's not quite mature enough not to devolve into a yelling match with him, but she'll always come back and always make sure he's doing okay even if he doesn't want her to. DEAL WITH IT. She's aware there's someone worth knowing and she's going to find out if it kills her.
Now...for the dork-puppies.
Ruby continues to be one of the most important people in the colony to him, if not the most important on some days. As someone who's still sometimes spooked by the intensity of his own emotions, he's finding that it's a lot easier to just feel things and act on those feelings when it comes to Ruby. Since the beginning of their relationship until now he's become more affectionate and thinks a lot less of it. He's still nervous about actual intimacy and their first kiss but only when he's really consciously thinking about it. Ruby is someone who continually represents optimism and hope and even just thinking about her is enough to bring a bright smile to his face. He thinks she's incredible in pretty much every way possible and will never hesitate to say so whether it be to her face or to someone else when he speaks of her. She's the one who tends to tether him to reality and makes sure he stays on track and doesn't get carried away.
It's not that he needs someone to take care of him, but rather he feels that their relationship is mutually beneficial. They're both able to rely on each other and help each other and it's been this way since the very beginning. Ruby understands several things about him that no one else can really understand such as what it's like to be thrown into a leadership/hero role almost unexpectedly to being socially awkward and having a hard time making friends to being in the shadow of an older sibling they intensely admire to being something special, a prodigy. He knows he can talk to her about anything but more importantly he knows he doesn't have to say much at all for Ruby to understand. Ruby has always been able to understand him perfectly and it's one of the reasons he never feels too bad for showing his more vulnerable sides to her.
When she disappeared for those three days it sort of felt like dying. He'll never actually explain it to her but it was a very raw kind of panic and grief he wasn't used to anymore and when she came back he vowed to try harder not to let her out of his sight for too long. He knows that they're both aware they can take care of themselves, but it's the reasoning behind being a better friend and a better boyfriend. It's the reasoning behind texts at all hours of the day, more natural hugs and cuddling and being more upfront about what he's thinking instead of worrying that it'll be too much and she won't want to deal with it. Ruby understands grief and loss and things he never wanted her to understand, but he's doing his best to be there for her.
At the end of the day, he recognizes the fact that he's moving past the puppylove dokis phase into something a little more powerful, possibly to where he's falling in love with her. He won't admit it because he thinks it's silly and he doesn't want it to be something bigger than what Ruby wants or what they can understand, but if confronted or prompted he'd explain it that way. Ruby is someone who has made his life for the better and has given him hope and allowed him to be himself in the face of all of the craziness that Cerealia has to offer. In addition to finding a way to bring Tadashi back, his main priority is finding a way to bridge their worlds so he can stay with her because being with her is a little like breathing. It's so natural and an integral part of his life, but he knows how bad it'll hurt if she's not there anymore. SO TL;CR Disney magic, etc etc.

Rise to Otome: Rise's really sort of charmed by Otome! She'd like to get to know her better but she finds her to be a very responsible lady with a good head on her shoulders and also someone who doesn't take anybody's bullshit. That's something to admire especially when it comes to tsun-wrangling like Otome does for Leon and Lili. She does also kind of wonder if there's truth to Leon's worries about Otome overworking but it's not her place. Either way she'd like to spend more time with her and maybe learn from her.
Hiro to Yang: Yang's still someone he admires very much but after the things that've gone down thanks to RWBY V3 he's also come to respect her in a much different way. He's not entirely arrogant enough to say that he completely understands what she's going through, seeing how he's never lost a limb, but he understands loss and he understands depression. He wants to do his best to try and help her since she's done so much for him since he's arrived in the colony. Yang is still a beacon of strength even if she doesn't think so and he'll do everything in his power to prove to her that she's still someone they all care about greatly and they're not going to leave her alone. He's taking it one day at a time and he's fine with her taking the time to heal. Though it's a bit discouraging sometimes, he knows he can't give up because nobody gave up on him. Even if she won't be the same on the other side of this, he's pretty sure he likes this Yang just as much as the former Yang. Now it's all about convincing her of that. (And of course he's grateful every day that she's supportive of him and Ruby. That means a lot, too.)
Hiro to Mary: First friend, best friend. Being friends with Mary is second nature by now he doesn't even have to think about what to say to her or how to handle things. When they first met, of course, he assumed she was quiet and fragile and needed to be kept safe. Since then, of course, he's learned that Mary can actually be as sassy as the rest of the air quartet and she has a determination to her that he admires greatly. More than anything he admires her loyalty and it makes him step up his game. Mary is one of the people in the colony he trusts without any kind of hang-ups, one of the people he feels won't lie to him or feed him bullshit and though sometimes her responses to him surprise him or catch him off-guard he takes pride in the fact that she's also comfortable enough around him to not be afraid to speak her mind.
More than anything, she's another friend of his he'd like to find a way to bridge the worlds and keep in touch with her. He feels like not only is there a lot for him to teach her but vice versa. They're both very curious kids who want to learn as much as possible even if they don't understand everything. While he still wants to protect her, he's more interested in helping her protect herself and fighting alongside him, Ruby and Roxas. And speaking of Roxas, even if he likes to tease her about their oblivious friend he really does want what's best for her and what will make her happy and will do everything he can to help. Sorry about him. Look, everybody should be happy like him and Ruby okay? But in all seriousness, Mary's one of those people that's firmly integrated herself into his life and he doesn't even want to toy with the idea of her leaving the colony before he does. That'd be horrifying. So he's more than happy just to spend time with her, do silly teenage things and live a normalish life since he feels they both deserve it. Mary deserves it, and he'll destroy anybody who tries to take away her happiness.

Even in his own right though he finds that Jaune's a pretty easy-going guy and while he seems goofy he knows that Jaune has leadership qualities he can actual approve of. He's never really seen Jaune in action but he sees parts of himself in the guy, mostly the parts of being a hero without any special powers. Ruby's told him that she doesn't think Jaune knows what his Semblance is and that's still okay. The thing about Jaune is that he tries and that's the important part of it all. Hiro knows about what happened in Remnant and how it's probably affected Jaune but he won't bring it up. He doesn't feel like it's his place, but more than likely he'll start doing a better job of reaching out to him and keeping tabs on him. And of course he's more than willing to make other kinds of gadgets for him should he ask.

That aside, he's also encountered Chibi's preachy side and while that would normally annoy him or make him roll his eyes, he finds it to be a little interesting and instead will question it instead of flat-out arguing it's not science. He also hopes his own ideas are up to par because he likes to be an impressive child instead of an average one. Please acknowledge him, etc etc. But there's absolutely a certain amount of respect there and he's not ashamed to admit that.

Hiro knows that Usagi is Sailor Moon and it still surprises him if he thinks on it long enough to be honest. He doesn't quite get how she and her are one in the same when Usagi is still to him just a friend he likes to see around the colony and spend time with. He finds her to be amusing even if she doesn't always get what he's saying, and he can appreciate her friendship. He does know she's very important to Rei, too, and as someone who values Rei by default he values Usagi as well. He'd like to get to know her a little better outside of what they have but he's also dying to see Sailor Moon in action. Please show him your powers, moon rabbit. Make the small nerdling happy.
Recently someone pointed out to him that when they knew a different version of him, they were fairly sure that Honey Lemon was his favorite friend from home even if he wouldn't say so. That's pretty close to the truth. He loves and cherishes all of his friends at the nerd lab now, but there's something special about Honey that helps him even in the darkest of times. Her bright, positive outlook on everything usually gets him to chill out and keep calm and he's grown used to all of the casual affection she throws around. For a very short period of time when he met her, he may have had a small crush on her but that of course changed when everything changed back home. Now she's an ally and a friend and someone he feels like he can trust without having to hold back.
He's worried about her being here in the same way he'd be worried about any of their team being here (and has yet to really tell her about Wasabi being here before), but he knows she'll settle just fine and he's grateful she's around. He can't wait to tell her all kinds of stories and introduce her to people he loves here. He's sure they'll love her, too.

Okay so! Iris, somehow, has become a close friend that he'd happily listen to. She's a lot different to what he expected, or at least her past is. She's so kind and gentle at times though that he worries she'll end up all the more hurt if something happens in the future.
He might not be completely open with her yet, but he does trust her. He just doesn't want her impression of him to change if he does say some things, especially given her opinions on Other Things that I won't mention dskjgndg

Rise is really upbeat and fun to spend time with. She knows about some pretty cool stuff, and is one of those people that stands out as someone who always tries to make others happy. Really he'd still like to get to know her better because atm it's mostly cereal stuff, but they'd both get along really well anyway. To be honest he probably texts her random stuff at times I just... don't have the tagging power to do that. Ah. He also needs to actually learn more about her persona stuff tbh... all he knows is that she can communicate with others. I don't think the scanning thing came up actually even though Yu thought he knew about it so dskjgnsg
Hiro is impressive for a kid his age. He's concerned for him because of the fire thing, he just isn't sure how to help on the magic front though he's probably slowly pondering it anyway! Just so the poor kid doesn't have to freak out again sob... He's super intelligent though, and as someone who knows fuck all about technology, that makes it all the more incredible. It's kind of interesting how Hiro has the same kind of attitude towards magic though, or at least the desire to just keep learning... they're both nerds help

Togami has the dubious honour of being the one person in Cerealia that Veronica has trouble thinking nice things about. It's not even that time he hit on her as a dragon (which she honestly found pretty interesting), but the fact that he tells her that there is such a thing as people who are superior and people who are inferior and that is so much the opposite of what she believes that it kind of throws her for a loop. She can't see herself ever agreeing with him (but then again she's a lot more stubborn than she lets on and he just brings out that side of her).
Also he's mean to murder bots...though she guesses that he ended up being pretty justified with that as they turned out the way they did...
Despite that, some part of her is still willing to give him a chance. She wants to understand why it is that he thinks the way he does. She doesn't agree with him at all, and has a hard time reconciling her own desire to know more and to come to some sort of compromise with the fact that she doesn't like what she may be condoning by not arguing with him...

Leon's dude friends in Cerealia tend to not be much like himself, and he still loves them, but sometimes he just can't relate or finds himself needing to explain things he takes for granted, and it's weird. He's getting used to everyone he talks to being completely outside of his social circle norm. So he's kind of relieved whenever he ends up chatting with Yusuke and it's like, holy shit, a modern day dude my age who isn't some weird socially awkward nerd? He used to have more friends like that here, but all of them left, and he misses the dynamic—so he's interested in getting to know Yusuke as a friend. He seems to have his shit together when it comes to his feelings on CERES and this whole situation, too, so that's also a plus. He really needs to just brodate him sometime to get to know each other better because he seems like a cool dude who would be a good friend.

Saber like . . . moreso than anyone else in group four, Leon has no idea what to make of her. She never presented as a "normal person" from the very beginning, unlike the others, who all kind of started out as relatable people and then suddenly busted out magical powers. SABER IS SABER. She's crazy and out there and dramatic and it was very obvious from the first minute that she wasn't a normal person. And that only got confirmed throughout the event. It's hard for him to even imagine something like talking to her as a friend one on one. But he's curious about her now, of course. He's impressed with and grateful to her for taking care of him during the interlude, and while he's kind of out of it and numb concerning her death, he's fucked up over it, and he probably needs to talk to her again to work out those feelings and express them anyway. It all just happened so fast and so unbelievably that the shock never wore off. But even though she's obviously some crazy wacky non-human, she helped him, and she's cute, and she seems like she might be fun, so he definitely wants to follow up with her now.
