Who'd died nearly a decade before she was born.

Now somehow, impossibly, a boy no older than she is. A boy can't know the temple no longer exists. The the old order, the old codes are long dead. ]


We do things a little differently where I'm from. [ She offers casually, at last. Her cheeks are burning. No one did things differently in his time. She takes a breath. ]
