Amazingly, its long scarf doesn't seem to drag through the muck so much as float on top of it. The traveler leaves a very definitely trail of tiny circular footprints behind, but not much else as it starts off in the direction Ichimatsu indicated.
Sometimes it runs ahead, sometimes it lags behind when it seems something interesting, but in general the traveler is always near Ichimatsu as they journey onward.]
