Mary on Hiro: Hiro is so weird, and he gets Mary to pout or get frazzled or exasperated or irritated faster than any of her other friends. But he was also the first to give her a nickname, and he's always been quick to accept her or make her think about things she might have taken for granted before. There are times when he says things that catch her off-guard for how serious they are, but she's aware that he's been through some rough spots and that he's a lot more mature (and sad) than he tends to let on. He's definitely one of her closest friends, for sure, even if she hasn't seen him in awhile-- but he gets a lot about her that not all of her friends would be able to understand.
Otome on Hiro: Otome's had some time to adjust to having a whole different world of memories heaped on one person that she ran into during an impromptu clinic, and just like her memories suggested, she's very fond of him. She may tease a lot, but she'd wanted nothing more than to find a way to fix his body when it was glitching, and in Cerealia, she wants nothing more than Hiro's happiness. He may still cause trouble and try to flirt with her, only to ultimately fail, but when he told her about the choice he'd made, it not only hurt to think that he'd sacrificed legit everything about himself to bring things around, but it also hurt because becoming an Administrator was (and still is, to her) too much of a burden for a teenage boy to have to shoulder. That's his life as a human he's had to give up, and having him cry on her just drove it home. He's listened to her and supported her so much that she wants to continue to do that much for him, and remind him to hold on to his very human heart, no matter what.
