So Leon has a lot of mixed feelings on Xion, honestly. She's actually a rather sweet person, but it puts him on edge when people are nice to him for no good apparent reason--he's always pretty sure that they want something from him, or they're schmoozing up to him for some reason, because that's all he's really ever known back home. The fact that she seems to be so determined to be his friend is even worse because Leon definitely doesn't understand that either, and what he doesn't understand, he doesn't like. He's close-minded like that.
But she's also less pushy than a lot of people, which helps. When he told her to go away, she went away and left him alone, which was a bit of a relief; he doesn't appreciate that she didn't think he was capable of taking care of himself, but he gets fussed over stupid things like that.
Either way, they do have to work together, so if nothing else, Leon will try to keep the peace for that. It doesn't mean he'll be any more pleasant than usual though, because...well, Leon's a dick and he tries very hard to keep people at arm's length whenever possible.
