But seriously, Kaz... has warmed up very quickly to William, which took me by surprise. I suppose it helped that William was very open about his background and why an angel was following him around? Like, their situations have so many similarities, and they're both stuck in the situation that who they were in a past life is affecting and screwing up their current lives. Plus William is having demon troubles too, and that's something that Kazuya deeply sympathises with so... to be honest, William just makes him feel less lonely. Like, Kaz has friends, but William actually has insight into Kaz's situation and kind of understands it, so it's just a relief to him.

It's why Kaz gave William his COMP. Because when Kaz met William, Minny had already been killed by a monster, and there was no way Kaz was going to let someone he connected with so easily fall prey to something like that as well. Like, for Kaz it's no problem, because he can defend himself without the COMP and he didn't use it much for summoning his demons anyway - but for William, it might be the only thing between him and death. He knew he was probably being a bit forward, giving his COMP over on first meetings, but hey, in canon he did it with Midori just so she had the means to protect herself, so this is kind of the same situation.

Kaz is hesitant over something with William though, and that's his current status as "demon". He's still kind of... gauging? Like, he knows Kevin would probably straight up exorcise him if it ever came out that the Messiah was also the King of Demons, so he's leery of telling William anyway, but once he's certain that he'll get a favourable - or neutral - response, he'll probably come clean with William. Like I said, he's warmed up surprisingly quickly to him... guess there's something to be said for kindred spirits!

But yeah, Kaz likes William a great deal. Still building his trust up, but otherwise, Kaz is quite comfortable around him.

Yeah getting the COMP was a surprising experience but he feels bonded to Kaz because of it. And when the demon thing comes out, assuming Kaz does get in trouble with Kevin, William will definitely intercede on his behalf.

But Kaz can come snooze in the library anytime!
