WHAT HAVE I NOT ALREADY SAID ABOUT THESE TWO THOUGH HONESTLY... Yang is Ruby's most important person. That's true in canon and it's extra true here, because Yang has always been there for her. She's never left her behind, she's been there from the time she arrived, and she always is there with a smile and some advice, or marshmallows for s'mores, or a story. It keeps Ruby grounded and feeling safe. No matter what CERES pulls, she knows that she will always be there for her.
That's why it frightened Ruby so badly when Yang's arm was broken like that in the jungle. Yang was her normal, fearless self, but this time it came back to bite her. This time, she wasn't perfectly fine like Ruby was positive she would always be, and that was terrifying for her. Even if Naoki healed it right up just like that, Ruby really has never had to deal with that sort of fear.
So she's a little more worried about Yang than she usually would be back home. She's had a taste of the fact that her heroic fearless unbeatable big sister is...actually a little fallible, and that's a frightening thought.
But most of the time, she's got just as much faith as before, and they've actually grown a little closer, I think, through boy talk too. Ruby is growing up juuuust a little bit, and Yang is there to guide her and offer advice and be that older, more aware force that Ruby needs. So in that sense, she looks up to Yang even more, but she also feels like they have just a little bit more in common now.
BASICALLY RUBY LOVES YANG SHE'S HER MOST IMPORTANT FAMILY what else is new.
Sousei : Mary
Mary is probably one of those people who Sousei thinks of the most. She's one of few who he constantly checks in on and one of the people who he's happy to consistently see due to lessons. And that's because Mary is...well, his student. He's lost Soramaru (THREE TIMES....) and that's a pretty big blow for him, but it helps to have Mary there to look after and teach. Even if he's just teaching her history and scholarly pursuits, it's nice.
It also helps that this is the kind of teaching that I think Sousei prefers. He's a canon Ravenclaw, okay. Sousei loves knowledge and learning, and having someone with him who also loves the same things is actually really nice. Mary is on his wavelength in that way, so he's really pleased at this point to teach her and help her. She's someone he thinks very highly of, too. She's grown a lot since he met her, and he's impressed by her.
She's grown a backbone, she's smart as can be, and she's very blunt--all things he approves of. She's constantly growing and changing and learning, and he really honestly just hopes for the best for her.
He needs to learn about Roxas though okay. He'll stare him down intimidatingly.
Leon : Otome
wheezes.
OKAY NO here I go I'm doing this.
Now. It is important to note that one of the reasons that Otome has gotten away with as much as she has is because she reminds him a lot of Marian and Leon is weak. Obviously Marian is his most important person (Chal and Stahn aside, who are different in a lot of ways that isn't really relevant here) and people who remind him of her are people he's just going to automatically be nicer to. He can't help it. It's ingrained. Otome is kind, she's gentle but firm when she needs to be, and she's constantly trying to look out for him.
Of course, that's about where the similarities end which is a good thing because that's also why Leon's been able to separate the two in his mind. Otome is Otome--she does remind him of Marian, but he doesn't think of her as Marian or anything like that SO THAT'S GOOD. NO WEIRD AWKWARD RELATIONSHIPS HERE.
But... she's still pretty important to him already, and it's weird because it's only been almost an IC month and Leon still feels like he... well, he likes her. That's weird for him. He doesn't do the "liking" thing. But Otome really has gone out of her way to look out for him. But the thing is, people have done that before, either because that was their job or they were paid to do so or because they wanted something from him. And he does get that being a doctor is Otome's job and he kind of can justify it that way, but even so, she's never asked for anything in return and it's weird but he's starting to at least trust that she's not trying to pull a fast one on him. He doesn't really trust her with anything else yet, but it's still a pretty good start.
But he's also starting to realize that he wants her to be safe. He doesn't want her to have to fight on the front lines. He doesn't like that she shows up sometimes with bruises because of Kogami ( X-( ). In a lot of ways, she's pure and warm and good, a lot like Stahn, but Leon trusts Stahn to take care of himself and he absolutely does not have that trust in Otome. Especially not after she collapsed like she did. Which, honestly, that was something that really frightened him, so in a lot of ways, he still hasn't forgiven her for it. It's really not her fault though--he's so bitter about it because it scared him, which means he's attached, which is hard for him to deal with. So yeah, he's overprotective, and that's not something that's likely to change.
All of that aside, he just... likes her. He likes her mannerisms and how she holds herself. He likes how she talks to Chal, and how she treats him like an adult most of the time. He likes her to the point that he's afraid of her finding out any more about him, because he's afraid that she'll hate him for what he did (because he hates himself for what he did, so how could anyone else not?). On the other hand, there's like a 50/50 chance that Leon will flat out tell her to try to get her to leave him alone, in the sense that IF YOU KNOW THE AWFUL THINGS I DID, YOU'D HAVE TO HATE ME, AND THEN YOU'D HAVE TO LEAVE because he's afraid that he'll get attached and she'll get attached and people who get attached to him suffer a lot like Marian did.
SO... YEAH. tl;dr he likes her a lot and then the Issues show up and things get complicated
MEANWHILE Chaltier thinks that Otome is a wonderful influence on Leon and really likes her a lot. He wants her to stay with him and look out for him more in the future, no matter how prickly Leon gets. He really thinks that he can trust her with Leon (and Stahn's) well-being and wishes that he could tell her how grateful he is because Leon would never relay it.
He also really appreciates that she always thinks of him even though she can't hear him, because that's just incredibly sweet of her and OVERALL HE THINKS OTOME IS GOOD PEOPLE, YES.
