...you know what let's start with Leon first because that's easy.

LEON IS SUCH A BUTTHEAD. He's so frustrated by Leon's presences, I think this is his first real instance of negative CR and even so he's still going to keep bugging him because Leon gives him a reaction and it's fascinating. Now that he knows certain things about Leon he's going to ease up a tiny bit but also still just as aggressively be nosy and try to figure him out. Leon's a puzzle and Leon's good at pissing him off, but it's hard to ignore him when he clearly has a lot of issues.

...SIGH. Okay. Are you ready for this. Let's talk about Hiro and Ruby.

Ruby Rose. It's amazing, I went back and reread their first thread the other day because I was looking for something and even in that thread it was clear that Ruby left an impression on him, and that's what Ruby's always done. Ruby's always left an impression on him and has always left him wanting to know more. Ruby started out as this girl that was kinda strange and told him a lot of things he hadn't anticipated, and also just "that girl I awkwardly danced with and Tadashi's co-worker." It wasn't really until Natalia's coalition and pairing them up as hero partners that he started to really take an interest in Ruby.

Ruby is perhaps the only person in Cerealia who really can understand him and she takes all of his mood swings in stride like a champ. It's something he's not sure how to thank her for and also something he's not sure how to phrase to her. She gets what it's like to be socially awkward, to skip grades and deal with older peers, to be called special without really wanting to be, to be so skilled and content to be with inanimate objects than people...and yet the longer he's here the more he wants to start really making a good effort to branch out and talk to people and do normal teenager things, as long as he's with her.

When Hiro's with Ruby, a lot of things in the world stop mattering to him. She is the one person who has really made him feel genuinely happy again without always dwelling on his underlying problems. When they're together he can just focus on being himself and not being a superhero or a genius or that sad kid who's lost everything and isn't sure how to cope. The other thing is though that Ruby's the only person he's told everything and while he was terrified to do so, the way she's handled it has instilled a LOT of trust in her. He feels like he can let his guard down around her without being seen as vulnerable or weak. She lets him go at his own pace and she doesn't push him for answers when he's not ready. That goes a long way.

All of this was true before romantic feelings even entered the picture. More than likely he just assumed they were going to be really, really good friends for the rest of their time in Cerealia and if a person asked, he wouldn't know how to explain when it changed to something more than that. He's not sure when he started thinking about what it'd be like to kiss her, or what she'd look like in a pretty dress, or if she'd ever consider maybe trying the dating thing. He's come to find he likes holding her hand, he likes being in her personal space and in turn he doesn't care if she comes into his. As far as he's concerned, he and Ruby have always been something of a unit. It makes sense to him on that level.

Ruby is strong, brave, optimistic, kind, sweet, beautiful, and perhaps too good for him, but the thing is that Hiro's incredibly selfish and refuses to let go of her. He's not sure what he'd do if she ever left other than completely fall apart, but she simultaneously pushes him to be better but also just slow down a little. He's willing to slow down if she's there with him, and it's like he's told her before; there's pretty much nothing he wouldn't do for her no matter the state of their relationship.

I'm sure I'm missing something but that's about the gist of it.
