[If you think she's rude now, come meet her as a very jaded five year old after she inadvertently caused her mother to have a nervous breakdown because of her powers and got taken to a special kindergarten for level 7 espers. Where she was neglected and shunned by her caretakers. Fun times for everyone!

[What do kids do in the playground? Build sandcastles in the middle of the sand box. However, it was difficult to do this by yourself. And Hiro figured that would've been easier to make something bigger with more people helping out and lending ideas. Being an oddly perspective kid for his age, he'll walk up to the young girl... He was social savvy enough to know that she was looking troubled about something.]

Um... Are you alright, miss? [It was just good manners to show some concern for someone else. It would've been lame to go "Help me out with something" like a blunt idiot.]

[Shiho hadn't been around very many kids of her own age (mostly because adults didn't like her hanging around their children either), so in this city full of robots she's sitting in the playground by herself with a children's book in her hands. (Who knew they made pop-up books about the ten greatest murderers in history?)

The book was an interesting enough read, discouraged people from talking to her (both because of its disturbing cover and because she looked busy), and made it so people knew where her hands were at all times.

So she's more than a little suspicious when some kid comes up to her.

(You're a kid too, Shiho.)]

What, don't I look alright? [She tightens her grip on her book, narrowing her eyes at him with a very suspicious look.]

I don't mean to pry... But you look a little mad.

[He was used to kids giving him weird looks as he was a bizarre kid. So all Hiro could do was stare back at her innocently... That book she had look a little funny in his mind. Most kids would've been creeped out right now, yet Hiro looks oddly fascinated in what she was reading. His spacecase mannerisms didn't fade away even when he was a teen.

He wasn't judging the girl on what kind of book she was reading. It was less of the lesson of "Don't judge a book by its cover" and more of Hiro had his own sense of 'good' and 'bad' which he didn't always apply to other people.]

Did you meet bullies around here? I won't let 'em bother you. [Because that had to be the reason why she was looking irritated.]

I'm not mad and I don't need your help.

[Shiho huffs derisively, tilting her book up so that it can serve as a physical separation between the two of them. She's not even reading it anymore at this point.]

I can deal with my own bullies and besides, you're just a kid.

[He simply stares blankly at her wondering why she's holding up the book. Hiro had to wonder if this girl was really smart or really dumb...]

Is reading stuff like murders fun? Some of the criminals I see on TV look like they enjoy that kind of stuff.

But I'm different from you. [She was a monster; everyone treated her like she was one.]

Are you trying to say that you think I'm a criminal?

[It's just another regular day in the city, just a normal trip to get some food and-

Uh. Is it just Minato's imagination, or is that little girl in front of him eeriely similar to Shiho? There's the distinct possibility that CERES messed up with the code again, so he'll just walk over to talk to her.]

...Are you related to Sannomiya-san?

[The little girl in question has no idea what she's doing here, besides from what information she could glean by touching her surroundings. All she knew was that there was no BABEL here, or parents.

And now some weird teenager is trying to talk to her.]

....what, you mean Papa?

[Shiho looks up at him, trying to decide whether or not he looked like a criminal that her dad would have put away.]

No, I don't know your Papa- not that well, anyway. [Well, this is awkward. The Shiho he knows isn't particularly trusting from what he's observed, and frankly bad things can only happen if he mentions her name. Gah!]

It's not safe for you to be alone here though...what about I show you the way to the park? There's more people there.

[Shiho pauses, staring at him suspiciously for a moment before she's suddenly smiling at him with all the brightness of a normal five-year-old girl.]

Really? That's so nice of you, mister!

[She holds her hand out for him to take.

There's nothing suspicious going on here.]

Sure. [Now Minato does suspect Shiho has some kind of power by now since he's already seen her using her hands suspiciously a few times, but he doesn't have a problem holding out his hand anyway so that she can touch it- powers or not, Shiho's just a child right now and he's more concerned about her safety than whatever misgivings he might have over her powers.

That's what she'd be able to read, by the way.]

[.....he's actually sincere. This fact surprises Shiho a lot, and it shows in the quick way she looks up at him when she takes his hand.

And he really did seem to already know her, though a much older version for some reason? Was someone playing around with time-travelling?]

I get that a lot. [He seems amused at that and Shiho can read his frankness about it, even if the associated memories are beyond her reach.] You're probably the first kid who's said to me, though. [And Minato doesn't mind since he's been called much worse before.]
