Sousei : Milla

Ahem. Milla is...Sousei's only admitted to friend in Cerealia. Not only did he admit it, he texted her to tell her so and even got the response that they were, in fact, friends. That was a pretty amazing step for both of them and it still kind of amazes me because neither of them is capable or competent at this personal emotions thing.

Ironically, though, I'd say they're both pretty competent at dealing with and understanding each other's emotions, which is why they're here in the first place. Sousei understands Milla really well, because he's pretty perceptive and she honestly wears her heart on her sleeve, but Milla's grown to understand Sousei too despite his lineface wall, and that says a lot about how well they've come to know each other. Sousei knows that Milla understands him when he speaks (and even more importantly, when he doesn't), and that helps him relax quite a bit around her. There's nothing he really has to worry about hiding.

They both understand each other, after all. She understands his past and he understands her situation, and that's brought them to an even level where it's all Cerealia or bust. They know that they can only know each other here, and I think that that's made them both more openminded as to their relationship. That's why they're friends now--because there's no reason for them not to be. They enjoy each other's company...so why not be friends.

sO THEY'RE FRIENDS. They play animal crossing together, they pester each other about stupid things over text message, and Milla has cooked for Sousei and made him his favorite foods and it really made him feel so warm and comfortable for some reason. His favorite foods and the taste of home but made by someone important to him was really something special. THIS IS SOUNDING SHIPPIER THAN I WANTED IT TO I SWEAR I'M NOT DOING THIS ON PURPOSE whatever moving on

Sousei worries about Milla. He knows that she's strong, but she's also dealt with a lot of shit, especially losing the people important to her before and then during Cerealia. All he can do though is support her as best he can. She's not someone who needs him to order her around or give her direction; she's stronger than that, and has her own path to travel. It's something he appreciates about her. She talked about how she lost her path, but even so to Sousei, she seems to have found a new one and has been walking it on her own all along. That's not an easy thing to do. So all he can offer is any gentle guidance he has, and hope for the best. But even so, he has faith in her, so it really is enough.

She's prickly and she's warm and entertaining, and Sousei is comfortable enough with her to be able to tease her in response, and it's honestly a really chill relationship at this point because of it. They handle all of their rough and jagged edges by poking at them and dealing with the consequences, and because they both know that, it makes it easy. Also Sousei thinks that Milla's expressions can be pretty funny when she's flustered.

BUT YEAH SO... Sousei's really fond of her, obviously. She's his friend, with all of her quirks and imperfections and oddities, and she accepted him as her friend, with all of his own quirks and imperfections and oddities. That means more to him than she--or even he--really knows.
