Ruby : Yang

SISTERRRRS....!!!!

Obviously Yang is Ruby's most important person in Cerealia and in her entire life. She's her big sis, her dependable role model and her best friend. They're partners in crime, they understand each other well, and Ruby knows that nobody can beat her big sis in battles or sass or punning. She generally doesn't have to worry about Yang, because she's never met anything Yang can't take down with her punches and her fierceness, and so Ruby's relationship with her sister is very much that of the young sister not worrying much about her older sister but absolutely idolizing her in her own way.

Ruby admires Yang's strength, her ability to make friends, her comfort in everything she does...Yang never seems to feel awkward or uncomfortable, and that's something Ruby really wants to emulate on her own. She isn't very good at it, but she tries.

Still, she's so comfortable with Yang at all times. They sass each other but they don't really argue; they have a special understanding that comes of being really close siblings, and Ruby's really grateful that Yang's there in Cerealia with her. Without her, she knows she'd be way more lost. That's something that Ruby knows she has to worry about, though. She knows that she disappeared and left Yang all alone, and she's determined to make sure that something like that never happens again, because she can only imagine how hard it was when she disappeared.

That aside, Cerealia has taught Ruby to worry a little for Yang. There are things that Yang can't punch out with her fists here, and there are things that can harm even her. She worries a little, because she doesn't know what can or can't hurt Yang, and she doesn't want anything to happen to her sister. She's familiar enough with concern, but she's never had to seriously worry about Yang before, so it's been a weird, uncomfortable adjustment to make.

But she's happy that Yang found a boyfriend who can finally keep up with her. Good for you, big sis.

Sousei : Yang

Sousei likes Yang, and that was an uphill battle for sure. He wasn't sure what to think of her at first, because at first she just seemed like a crazy and slightly foolhardy thrill seeker. Now he knows that she's a crazy and slightly foolhardy thrill seeker who actually happens to be rather sensible underneath it all. It's a weird combo, but it's something he actually approves of. From the moment she came to him to talk to him about the situation instead of outright diving into trouble, he decided that he actually liked her quite a bit.

She's a bit of an odd piece of CR for him though. She's not his friend no matter what she'd claim to the contrary (sorry Yang) because Sousei doesn't make friends very easily and he doesn't feel like he knows her well enough to be friends. He likes her more than an acquaintance, though. And she's not any sort of protege cr, because she doesn't really need his guidance and he's pretty aware of that. Rather, she's just someone he really likes and trusts, and that's good enough for Sousei.

this is also known as: Cal fell off the wagon, the CR.

Sousei : Mary

Sousei and Maryyyyy MARY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO SOUSEI...he won't admit it but he does see a little of himself in her timidity, not so much in that he was a timid child (he wasn't), but that he was a child that didn't find it easy at all to assert himself for what he wanted. He was raised in a way that told him that he had no right to ask for what he wanted, and he can see similar signs in Mary.

So when she shows her backbone, he's honestly really happy about it. He wants to encourage it, to convince her that it's okay to have a backbone and demonstrate it when she wants, and all of those things that he had to learn for himself over time. That said, he'd really appreciate if she didn't have a backbone at him sometimes...but even so, that's why he has to compliment her even when he's irritated with it, because he knows that it's a Very Important Thing.

He does think that Mary has done well for herself, and he's starting to understand her better with the entire "I'm a monster" thing, though he doesn't agree. Non-human, yes, monster, no. But then, Sousei's had an interesting life with that sort of thing, so he knows he's in the minority. It's why another thing he wants to teach her is that all that matters is her own opinion of herself, he just hasn't gotten that far yet. It's on the agenda though. He'll teach her that alongside tutoring lessons about history....

Because Mary's his student and he fully embraces that now. While she's his student, he owes her his care and attention and it is his job to make sure she's safe and well. If he takes that a little too seriously, well.... it's just his way of making sure that she's safe because he really does like her as a person. He doesn't call people family very easily, but he can call her Tenka's family (which by extension makes her his family too but good luck prying that out of him).

He just wants her to be safe and healthy and happy, which is why he's trying so hard to teach her that while it's okay to have a backbone and have confidence in herself, it's fine to lean on other people too. It's slow going, but he's getting pretty good at handling kids and their emotions, honestly. He's got this covered. It's sappy, but he also just really likes to see her smile; it's the sort of thing he didn't learn even when he started to grow in other ways as a kid, so he really thinks that she's stronger for being able to do so even now.

Cutest tiny student, would recommend, 10/10
